Molecular-rotor-type crystals dominated by crown ethers have garnered significant attention for their applications in sensing, optoelectronics, information encryption and other diverse fields. However, the role of crown ethers in regulating photoluminescent properties has long been overlooked in such structural systems. Here, by inserting 18-crown-6 molecules into the ionic crystal (4-pyridinemethaneaminum)PF (PP-1), we constructed a molecular-rotor-type crystal [(4-pyridinemethaneaminum)(18-crown-6)][PF] (PCP-1), exhibiting sensitively thermal-driven, unusual PL/dielectric responses. Notably, the introduction of the 18-crown-6 molecule changed the dynamic thermal motion and exerted a confinement effect through rich hydrogen bonding interactions, thereby inducing structural phase transitions and modulating energy transfer processes. These not only brought about switchable dielectric responses but also resulted in a comprehensive improvement of PL properties, encompassing extended lifetime, doubled quantum yield and temperature-controllable luminescent color. This study offers novel insights into the role of crown ethers in developing smart luminescent materials, holding promising prospects for intelligent recognition and information encryption.

Six new macrocycles incorporating glycolipids containing one triazole ring in their structures were synthesized via intramolecular macrocyclic closure. The synthesis strategy is based on the different reactivities of primary and secondary hydroxyl groups on the monosaccharides. The protecting of hydroxyls on 4,6-positions by benzylidene, followed by benzylation of 2,3-positions and removal of the benzylidene, selectively left over the free secondary and primary hydroxyl on 4- and 6-carbons, respectively.

In some cases, the catalytic processes involve the formation of self-organized supramolecular structures due to H-bonds and other non-covalent interactions. It has been suggested that the construction of self-assembled catalytic systems is a promising strategy to mimic enzyme catalysis at the model level. As a rule, the real catalysts are not the primary catalytic complexes, but rather, those that are formed during the catalytic process.

The efficacy, safety and ideal treatment duration of an adjuvant epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) for patients with resected EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were not known until 2014, when this study was initiated. In this phase 3 ICTAN trial (GASTO1002, NCT01996098), patients with completely resected, EGFR-mutated, stage II-IIIA NSCLC after adjuvant chemotherapy were assigned in a 1:1:1 ratio to receive icotinib (125 mg, three times daily) for 12 months, to receive icotinib for 6 months, or to undergo observation. The primary endpoint was disease-free survival (DFS).

Biomacromolecular selectivity paradigms, epitomized by the "induced-fit" concept, motivate adaptive supramolecular designs; however, cationic guest-directed morphological responses in metal-coordinated hosts remain inadequately developed. We reveal a dynamic Ag-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) cage that experiences alkali ion-induced structural metamorphosis triggered by Lewis acid‒base interactions. X-ray crystallographic analysis and independent gradient model (IGM) evidence confirm that these interaction templates have highly ordered architectures exceeding 340 non-H atoms.

Nanofiltration (NF) stands as a pivotal method for lithium resource recovery. Nonetheless, traditional NF membranes predominantly rely on size exclusion and the Donnan effect, necessitating elevated operating pressures and encountering substantial hurdles in terms of ion selectivity for lithium ions. Inspired by the host-guest recognition of crown ethers toward alkali metal ions, we prepared a crown ether-functionalized loose NF membrane (CE-LNF) via interfacial polymerization of diamino-dibenzo-14-crown-4 (DAB14C4) and trimesoyl chloride on a chloromethylated polysulfone substrate.
