Large-scale studies indicate a strong relationship between the gut microbiome, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Here, a higher abundance of the type III secretion system (T3SS) virulence factors of Enterobacteriaceae/Escherichia-Shigella in patients with T2DM-related-ASCVD, which correlates with their atherosclerotic stenosis is reported. Overexpression of T3SS via Citrobacter rodentium (CR) infection in Apoe-/- T2DM mice exacerbated atherosclerotic lesion formation and increased gut permeability. Non-targeted metabolomic and proteomic analysis of mouse serum showed that T3SS caused abnormal glycerophospholipid metabolism in mice. Proteomics, RNA sequencing, and functional analyses showed that T3SS induced ferroptosis in intestinal epithelial cells, partly due to increased expression of ferritin heavy chains (FTH1). This findings first demonstrated that T3SS increases ferroptosis in intestinal epithelial cells, via disrupting the intestinal barrier and upregulation of phosphatidylcholine, thereby exacerbating T2DM-related ASCVD.

To evaluated the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in improving laryngeal mucosal wound scar healing in vivo and investigated its underlying mechanisms. Laryngeal mucosal wounds were induced in Sprague-Dawley rats. Two weeks post-injury, PDT was administered via intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and 635-nm red laser irradiation at varying energy doses (15, 30, and 45 J/cm²).

Purpose: To investigate the images and treatment differences for Type IIIa atlantoaxial rotary dislocation (AARD) by comparing the imaging characteristics of patients with Type III and Type IIIa AARD.
Methods: The present study retrospectively analyzed a cohort of 35 patients who underwent posterior C1-C2 intra-articular fusion due to AARD from our hospital database. Among them, 23 patients were diagnosed with Type III AARD, while the remaining 12 patients were diagnosed with Type IIIa AARD.

Objective: To demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of intraluminal endoscopic treatment of patients with adenomas of the major duodenal papilla and familial adenomatous polyposis.
Material And Methods: Over the past 4 years, 13 patients with adenomas of the major duodenal papilla and familial adenomatous polyposis underwent surgery in our hospital. Of these, 7 patients had exclusively extrapapillary adenomas without signs of spread to the ducts.

Achieving UVA/B-selective, skin-inspired nociceptors with perception and blockade functions at the single-unit device level remains challenging. This is because the device necessitates distinct components for every performance metric, thereby leading to complex preparation processes and restricted performance, as well as the absence of deep UV (UVB and below)-selective semiconductors. Here, to address this, we develop a structure-simplification skin-inspired nociceptor using a reverse type-II CuAgSbI/MoS heterostructure.

The rate of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is ~1 per 1000 patients each year. Terminal events reportedly involve repeated and prolonged apnea, suggesting a failure to autoresuscitate. To better understand the mechanisms and identify novel therapeutics, standardized tests to screen for autoresuscitation efficacy are needed in preclinical SUDEP.
