Unlabelled: A method was validated to determine 121 pesticide residues (carbamates, organophosphates, organochlorines, and pyrethroids) in rice samples, following the guidance document SANTE/11312/2021v2. QuEChERS method was selected for pesticide extraction, and the extract was analyzed by HPLC-MS/MS. The methodology demonstrated precision and accuracy, with recovery rates ranging from 70 % to 119 %. Additionally, the study aimed to assess the effects of washing on residue levels of 121 pesticides in contaminated long-grain rice samples. Subsequently, the rice underwent washing, and the pesticide residues were determined in the samples to evaluate the retention factor. The results suggest that the washing process can enhance the elimination of pesticide residues in rice, around 40 % of pesticides have reduced between 40 and 60 %, and 10 % of pesticides reduced by more than 60 %. This research contributes with valuable insights for improving food safety measures in the context of pesticide-contaminated cereals.

This is the first report on the functional potential of Akhuni, an ethnic food of Northeast India, against diabetes. Akhuni is a traditional fermented soybean product known for its umami taste and delicacy, commonly used in the cuisine of Northeast India. Treatment with ethanolic extract of Akhuni (AKET) for 8 weeks decreased glucose levels in the blood, increased body mass and enhanced the ability to tolerate glucose dose-dependently in the streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice in comparison with the group of diabetic control mice (DBC).

Tissue adhesives have emerged as a promising alternative to conventional sutures and staplers in the management of hemostasis, tissue defect sealing, and wound repair. However, the efficacy of current bio-adhesives in clinical practice is compromised by the limitations, including poor wet adhesion, inadequate mechanical strength, vulnerability to gastrointestinal fluids, and insufficient hemostatic performance. Herein, a marine organism-inspired tough and adhesive patch (MOTAP) was developed to address these challenges.

During pregnancy there is an increased risk of vulvovaginal candidiasis that if left untreated is associated with pregnancy complications. First choice of treatment are over-the-counter azole antifungal drugs (AADs): miconazole, and clotrimazole, or prescription drug: fluconazole, which are suspected endocrine disruptive compounds. To investigate foetal exposure and endocrine disrupting effects of AADs on the human placenta, we added R-miconazole, S-miconazole, clotrimazole and fluconazole to the maternal reservoir of a dually recirculating ex vivo human term placental perfusion model.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The increase in incidence of male fertility concerns have prompted investigation into Borassus aethiopum (Mart.), a medicinal plant with claimed male sex enhancing property with a bid to scientifically prove or disprove the claim.
Aim Of The Study: This study therefore evaluated the androgenic potential of ethylacetate fraction of Borassus aethiopum hypocotyl (EFBAH) in male animal models using HPLC analysis (with saponin standard) and molecular docking studies.

Cyclophilins (Cyps), a family of peptidyl-prolyl isomerases, play essential roles in the life cycle of coronaviruses by interacting with viral proteins and modulating host immune responses. In this systematic review, we examined cell culture, animal model, and clinical studies assessing the anti-viral efficacy of cyclosporine A (CsA, PubChem CID: 5284373) and its non-immunosuppressive derivatives against coronaviruses. CsA demonstrated robust anti-viral activity in vitro across a broad range of coronaviruses, including but not limited to HCoV-229E, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2, with potent EC values in the low micromolar range.
