Article Abstract

We present the 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of a 64-year-old man with isolated renal metastasis. He had a history of radical surgery for squamous cell lung cancer 14 months ago, followed by chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The renal metastasis presented as a small focus of increased FDG uptake in the restaging 18 F-FDG PET/CT scan, which was regarded as renal cortical tracer retention. The renal metastasis was more prominent on the second PET/CT performed 5 months later. The patient subsequently underwent radical nephrectomy, and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of renal squamous cell carcinoma metastasis.

Purpose: Frailty measures are critical for predicting outcomes in metastatic spine disease (MSD) patients. This study aimed to evaluate frailty measures throughout the disease process.

Methods: This retrospective analysis measured frailty in MSD patients at multiple time points using a modified Metastatic Spinal Tumor Frailty Index (MSTFI).

Lattice radiotherapy (LRT) is a type of spatially fractionated radiation therapy (SFRT) that enables the delivery of ablative doses to specific internal regions of large tumoral lesions, while surrounding tissues and nearby critical structures receive significantly lower exposure. This technique relies on a spatial distribution strategy that allows dose levels of radiation to be applied within the tumor in a single session or, alternatively, over the course of five sessions. Over time, LRT has gained attention as a promising method for managing large tumors, especially in cases where conventional treatments may pose higher risks or be less effective, offering the benefit of reduced side effects.

Dual primary malignancy is a rare but possible malignancy presentation. Here, we present two cases of synchronous renal cell cancer and colon cancer with simultaneous laparoscopic management. The first patient, a 65-year-old female, reported painless hematochezia, while the second, a 73-year-old female, complained of painful bloating and constipation, along with a palpable mass in the left lower quadrant of the abdomen.

Collecting duct carcinoma (CDC) is a rare but aggressive form of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) that has limited understanding and an undefined systemic therapeutic regimen. Herein, we conducted a comprehensive proteogenomic analysis of CDC tumors and normal adjacent tissues to elucidate the biology of the disease. CDC exhibited high heterogeneity in tumor mutational burden, and enhanced ribosome biogenesis was the most striking malignant feature of CDC, even compared with other common kidney carcinomas.
