Three photoactive Cd(II) coordination polymers (CPs), [Cd (Fsbpe)(DBBA)]·2DMF (CP), [Cd(Fepbpe)(DBBA)]·2DMF (CP) and [Cd(Fsbpeb)(DBBA)] (CP) (DBBA = 3,5-dibromobenzoic acid, DMF = dimethyl formamide) with similar 1D chain motifs exhibited completely different photosalient behaviors (PS) in response to UV light. Mechanical motion was triggered by [2+2] photocycloaddition and regulated by positioning of the photoactive alkene centers relative to the crystal axis. This solid-state reaction was reversed by heating and photomechanical behaviour was repeated over several cycles. A simple photoactuating device was prepared using a CP3-PVA composite.

The metal-nitrogen chelated species, MN, have shown promise as efficient electrocatalysts for nitrate reduction, yet the symmetric arrangement of N atoms results in suboptimal adsorption affinity toward reaction substrates and intermediates. The current approaches to breaking the symmetry of MN suffer from inaccuracy and inhomogeneity because of the lack of strategies stemming from molecular design aspects. Herein, we report the construction of symmetry-broken MNO sites in coordination polymers via sequential coordination-covalent control in a one-pot reaction.

Objective: Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) opens huge possibilities in image-guided therapy. Its effectiveness is strongly influenced by the quality of the magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) used as tracers. Besides MNP optimization following different synthesis routes, MNP assembly into linear structures can significantly enhance their performance in MPI.

We present a coordination-inspired strategy for assembling binary nanocrystal superlattices (BNSLs) using CdSe nanotetrapods as symmetry-encoding building blocks. Exploiting their intrinsic tetrahedral geometry, which mimics the sp hybridization of carbon atoms in a diamond lattice, we encode spatially defined binding sites that guide regioselective coassembly with spherical nanocrystals. By tuning the size ratio between components, we achieve both three-dimensional and two-dimensional BNSLs with long-range structural order.

Myocardial injury constitutes a life-threatening complication of sepsis, driven by synergistic oxidative-inflammatory pathology involving dysregulated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and proinflammatory cytokines. This pathophysiological cascade remarkably elevates morbidity and mortality rates in septic patients, emerging as a key contributor to poor clinical outcomes. Despite its clinical significance, no clinically validated therapeutics currently exist for managing septic cardiomyopathy.

Bone defect therapy frequently encounters bacterial infections and chronic inflammation, which impair bone regeneration and threaten implant stability. Iron oxide nanoparticles have attracted attention due to cost-effectiveness, biocompatibility, and metabolic safety. However, iron oxide nanoparticles still struggle to balance low-temperature efficient antibacterial activity, effective immunomodulation, and bone regeneration.
