Introduction: Pediatric endotracheal intubation is challenging due to airway anatomical differences. Accurate endotracheal tube (ETT) sizing is crucial for effective ventilation and preventing complications. Traditional age, weight, or height-based methods are often unreliable, leading to multiple attempts.

Accurately modeling volume-dependent properties of water remains a challenge for density functional theory (DFT), with widely used functionals failing to reproduce key features of the water density isobar, including its shape, density, and temperature of the density maximum. Here, we compare the performance of the RPBE-D3 and vdW-DF-cx functionals using replica exchange molecular dynamics (MD) driven by machine-learned force fields. Our simulations reveal that vdW-DF-cx predicts the water density more accurately than RPBE-D3 and reproduces the isobar closely between 307 and 340 K.

Opioid conversion, particularly from high-dose intravenous (IV) fentanyl (>120 mg/day oral morphine-equivalent daily dose per referenced Japanese guidelines) to IV hydromorphone, presents clinical challenges due to inconsistent conversion ratios and lack of robust evidence. Specific approaches used in Japan may require careful evaluation. This report details two advanced cancer patients experiencing inadequate pain control after switching from high-dose IV fentanyl to IV hydromorphone.

Global phosphorus (P) resources are facing a depletion crisis, and pyrolysis of P-rich sewage sludge (SS) offers significant resource potential. Optimizing pyrolysis conditions remains key yet challenging for enhancing P retention and bioavailability. This study conducted a correlation-prediction-causation integrated framework (CPCIF) to investigate how heating temperature (HT), heating rate (HR), and retention time (RT) influence total P enrichment rate (BTPE), relative inorganic P transformation rate (BITP), and relative apatite P transformation rate (BAIP) from SS to biochar during pyrolysis.

Accurately determining initial water saturation is essential for assessing reservoir resources and optimizing development, yet conventional J-function methods face challenges such as variability in curve fitting due to sample heterogeneity, less-than-optimal grouping schemes, and limited core sample availability. This study addressed these issues by analyzing 55 J-function curves from the N reservoir in Iraq's Zagros Basin, identifying permeability as the primary factor influencing curve shape. A novel classification method was developed, categorizing curves into power function and exponential function types based on permeability thresholds.
