Article Abstract

Air-processed perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with high photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) can not only further reduce the production cost but also promote its industrialization. During the preparation of the PSCs in ambient air, the contact of the buried interface not only affects the crystallization of the perovskite film but also affects the interface carrier transport, which is directly related to the performance of the device. Here, we optimize the buried interface by introducing 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS, (CHO)Si(CH)SH) on the nickel oxide (NiO) surface. The crystallization of the perovskite film is improved by enhancing surface hydrophobicity; besides, the SH-based functional group of MPTMS passivates the uncoordinated lead at the interface, which effectively reduces the defects at the bottom interface of perovskite and inhibits the nonradiative recombination at the interface. Moreover, the energy level between the NiO layer and the perovskite layer is better matched. Based on multiple functions of MPTMS modification, the open circuit voltage of the device is obviously improved, and efficient air-processed methylamine-free (MA-free) PSCs are realized with PCE reaching 21.0%. The device still maintains the initial PCE of 85% after 1000 h aging in the glovebox. This work highlights interface modification in air-processed MA-free PSCs to promote the industrialization of PSCs.

Perovskite quantum dot light-emitting diodes have rapidly achieved high external quantum efficiencies of over 25%; however, hindered by limited operating stability originating from surface defects or ion migration in quantum dots. Here, we design a lattice-matched anchoring molecule, tris(4-methoxyphenyl)phosphine oxide (TMeOPPO-p), to anchor the multi-site defects and stabilise the lattice. The target quantum dots exhibit high exciton recombination features with near-unity photoluminescence quantum yields (97%), and the as-fabricated quantum dot light-emitting diodes present a maximum external quantum efficiency of up to 27% at 693 nm, a low efficiency roll-off (over 20% at a current density of 100 mA cm for the typical device) and an operating half-life of over 23,000 h.

The extreme sensitivity of inorganic CsPbI perovskites to moisture imposes stringent humidity requirements during fabrication, severely limiting their practical applications. Herein, 3-iodopropyltrimethoxysilane (IPTMS) is introduced as a multifunctional additive into the perovskite precursor to address these limitations. During thermal annealing, IPTMS molecules undergo an hydrolysis-driven cross-linking reaction, consuming residual water while constructing a hydrophobic polysiloxane network at grain boundaries, thus effectively shielding films against moisture infiltration.

The quality of the buried interface critically determines the performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, a homogenization strategy for the tin oxide (SnO) electron transport layer (ETL) based on surface reconstruction is developed to enable mesoscale interface manipulation. By introducing the natural L-carnosine (LC) at the buried interface, we achieve homogenized photon and electron transport through surface optimization of the SnO ETL.

Halide perovskites have shown tremendous potential as active materials in various optoelectronic devices, including solar cells, light-emitting diodes and photodetectors. However, their relatively large bandgaps - typically limited to ∼1.40 eV (∼885 nm) - constrain their use as near-infrared (NIR) photodetectors.

The all-solution process is an essential technology for large-scale production and cost reduction of transparent organic photovoltaics (TOPVs). However, this process still involves the sequential deposition of a transport layer and a transparent electrode on the active layer, increasing the process complexity. In this work, we demonstrate a silver nanowires (AgNWs): PDINO dual-function transparent electrode that achieves the functions of electron transport and collection through a single coating step.
