New chiral targets of orientational chirality have been designed and asymmetrically synthesized by taking advantage of N-sulfinyl imine-directed nucleophilic addition/oxidation, Suzuki-Miyaura, and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions. Orientation of single isomers has been selectively controlled by using aryl/alkynyl levers [C(sp)-C(sp) axis] and tBuSO- protecting group on nitrogen as proven by X-ray diffraction analysis. The key structural characteristic of resulting orientational products is shown by remote through-space blocking manner. Seventeen examples of multi-step synthesis were obtained with modest to good chemical yields and complete orientational selectivity.

Sequential deposition technique is widely used to fabricate perovskite films with large grain size in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Residual lead halide (PbI) in the perovskite film tends to be decomposed into metallic lead (Pb) under long-term heating or light soaking. Here, a chiral levetiracetam (LEV) dopant containing α-amide and pyrrolidone groups is introduced into the PbI precursor solution.

Helical structures are ubiquitous in nature and exhibit fascinating properties. They are inherently chiral, and many rely on hydrogen bonds to stabilize their conformation. Homopolypeptides of the glutamate type form α-helical secondary structures and are considered rigid-rod polymers.

Levoglucosenone () has emerged as a versatile synthon in target-oriented synthesis due to its availability from cellulose. While its functionality and chirality have found direct use as a small molecule building block, translation to polymerization has been more challenging. Monomers derived from have been difficult to polymerize through conventional chain-growth approaches due to lack of ring strain and steric hindrance.

We describe the preparation, conformational dynamics, and stereoselective recognition characteristics of water-soluble pillar[6]arenes pS-2 and pR-2. These two novel and diastereomeric cavitands comprise a 2,5-bis(ethoxy)pillar[6]arene core with one of six phenylene ring conjugated to two hexaanionic dendrons. Each dendron includes an (S)-glutamic acid amidated with two tris-carboxylic Behera's amines.

All inorganic lead halide perovskite (CsPbX) has become a hot topic in chiral optics for its high quantum yield and tunable luminescence. The environmental degradation tendency and lack of magneto-optical coupling mechanism of lead-based perovskite severely restrict its chirality integrated application. Rare-earth ions (such as Gd, Eu), with their unique 4f electronic configuration, not only passivate the lattice defects to improve stability but also expand the spectral response range through electronic localization effects.
