Article Abstract

All inorganic lead halide perovskite (CsPbX) has become a hot topic in chiral optics for its high quantum yield and tunable luminescence. The environmental degradation tendency and lack of magneto-optical coupling mechanism of lead-based perovskite severely restrict its chirality integrated application. Rare-earth ions (such as Gd, Eu), with their unique 4f electronic configuration, not only passivate the lattice defects to improve stability but also expand the spectral response range through electronic localization effects. In this study, we proposed a strategy to introduce magneto-optical active rare-earth ions (Gd, Eu) into the CsPbX lattice to form nanosheets (NSs), and oriented assembled into large scale chiral films with tailorable chiroptical activity ranging from 300 to 700 nm and achieved tailoring a multicolor circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) system with angle dependent polarization switching characteristics. Chiral Gd:CsPbBr NSs films and chiral Eu:CsPb(Br/Cl) NSs films exhibited significantly increased luminescence asymmetry factor of |glum| up to 10 and also displayed enhanced magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) responses. We further developed an optical encryption system based on multidimensional regulation of components/polarization/wavelength, enabling dynamic programmable information storage and providing a new material platform for spin photon devices, quantum communication, and high-end anti-counterfeiting technology.

Practical photonic bandgap structures for high frequency axion haloscopes.

Current and future searches for dark matter axions, based on their resonant conversion to photons in a magnetic field, span many orders of magnitude. A major impediment to designing resonators at the high end of this range, 5 GHz and above, is the proliferation of TE modes, which overwhelm and hybridize with the TM010 mode to which the axion couples, making the search impossible. We demonstrate that a photonic bandgap structure can be designed that completely suppresses the TE spectrum, even reducing the number of lattice periods to two or one and violating perfect lattice symmetry.

Emergent ferromagnetism on the surface of two-dimensional (2D) MXene is investigated by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) and angle-dependent hard X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (HAXPES). Focusing on CrN as one of the 2D-MXenes, high quality bilayers of CrN/Co and CrN/Pt are prepared by a magnetron sputtering technique. XMCD reveals the induced magnetic moment of Cr in the CrN/Co interface, while it is not observed in the CrN/Pt interface at room temperature.

Objectives: To synthesize a temperature-responsive multimodal motion microrobot (MMMR) using temperature and magnetic field-assisted microfluidic droplet technology to achieve targeted drug delivery and controlled drug release.

Methods: Microfluidic droplet technology was utilized to synthesize the MMMR by mixing gelatin with magnetic microparticles. The microrobot possessed a magnetic anisotropy structure to allow its navigation and targeted drug release by controlling the temperature field and magnetic field.

Towards causal inference-based antidepressant selection with brain and blood biomarkers.

Neuropsychopharmacology

Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care, Peter O'Donnell Jr. Brain Institute and the Department of Psychiatry, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, USA.

This report sought to employ multi-modal integration of pre-treatment brain (electroencephalogram, resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging) and blood (immune and metabolic) biomarkers to facilitate causal inference-based treatment selection by virtue of establishing predictability of remission to multi-stage antidepressant treatment. Data from two stages of pharmacotherapy in the 'Establishing Moderators and Biosignatures of Antidepressant Response for Clinical Care for Depression' (EMBARC) study from participants with both brain and blood biomarkers were included (N = 197). Participants were initially randomized to sertraline or placebo (Stage 1), and depending on clinical response at week-8, their therapy in Stage 2 was either maintained or switched (to sertraline, if a non-responder to placebo, or to bupropion, if a non-responder to sertraline).

Herein, ball-milled magnetic biochar-vermiculite composite (MBC@VT) and ball-milled magnetic biochar-zeolite composite (MBC@ZT) were synthesized via one-step ball-milling, and their adsorption capacities for Pb(II)/P-nitrophenol (PNP) in water were compared. The results demonstrated that the removal of Pb(II) and PNP through both materials was a complex, endothermic reaction mainly driven by chemisorption, with strong tolerance to pH changes and co-existing ions. MBC@VT showed superior adsorption for Pb(II) (reaching 367.
