Article Abstract

A novel multi-functional fluorescence probe HMIC based on hydrazide Schiff base has been successfully synthesized and characterized. It can distinguish Al/Zn/Cd in ethanol, in which fluorescence emission with different colors (blue for Al, orange for Zn, and green for Cd) were presented. The limits of detection of HMIC towards three ions were calculated from the titration curve as 7.70 × 10 M, 4.64 × 10 M, and 1.35 × 10 M, respectively. The structures of HMIC and its complexes were investigated using UV-Vis spectra, Job's plot, infrared spectra, mass spectrometry, H-NMR and DFT calculations. Practical application studies have also demonstrated that HMIC can be applied to real samples with a low impact of potential interferents. Cytotoxicity and cellular imaging assays have shown that HMIC has good cellular permeability and potential antitumor effects. Interestingly, HMIC can image Al, Zn and Cd in the cells with different fluorescence signals.

In this study, aloe emodin and β-d-glucose pentaacetate were added into potato starch/polyvinyl alcohol for the construction of colorimetric/fluorescent dual-pass intelligent response labels. Inspired by the lotus leaf structure, retained the advantages of the label itself and solved the hydrophilic problem of the label, and further developed a multi-functional dual-channel smart label with hydrophobicity and self-adhesion. The water contact angle of the prepared T-AEB label was 120.

Liquid-phase suspension array technology (SAT), based on optically encoded microspheres, overcomes limitations of traditional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and chemiluminescence detection techniques via meeting high-throughput and multiplexing demands in biosensing and diagnosis. It demonstrates significant advantages in terms of accuracy, speed, sensitivity, and multiplex detection capabilities, and has become an emerging research hotspot in the field of luminescent immunodiagnostics. With rapid advancement of nanotechnology and multi-functional nanomaterials, liquid-phase suspension array chips have achieved remarkable progresses in multiplex analysis capacity, encoding capacity, encoding efficiency, detection sensitivity, decoding methods, and application fields.

Hydrogel actuators show tremendous promise for applications in soft robots and artificial muscles. Nevertheless, developing a stretchable hydrogel actuator combining remote actuation and real-time signal feedback remains a challenge. Herein, a light-responsive hydrogel actuator with self-sensing function is fabricated by employing a localized immersion strategy to incorporate polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogel network into semi-interpenetrating carbon nanotube/2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized cellulose nanofiber/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (CNT/TOCN/PNIPAM) hydrogel.
