Two-dimensional transition metal compounds (2D TMCs) have been widely reported in the fields of energy storage and conversion, especially in metal-ion storage. However, most of them are crystalline and lack active sites, and this brings about sluggish ion storage kinetics. In addition, TMCs are generally nonconductors or semiconductors, impeding fast electron transfer at high rates. Herein, we propose a facile one-step route to synthesize amorphous 2D TiO with a carbon coating (a-2D-TiO@C) by simultaneous derivatization and exfoliation of a multilayered TiCT MXene. The amorphous structure endows 2D TiO with abundant active sites for fast ion adsorption and diffusion, while the carbon coating can facilitate electron transport in an electrode. Owing to these intriguing structural and compositional synergies, a-2D-TiO@C delivers good cycling stability with a long-term capacity retention of 86% after 2000 cycles at 1.0 A g in K-ion storage. When paired with Prussian blue (KPB) cathodes, it exhibits a high full-cell capacity of 50.8 mA h g at 100 mA g after 140 cycles, which demonstrates its great potential in practical applications. This contribution exploits a new approach for the facile synthesis of a-2D-TMCs and their broad applications in energy storage and conversion.

Transition metal fluorides because of the high electronegativity of fluorine may enhance the local electron density of the metal sites and promote water molecule dissociation and charge transfer. However, enhancing the intrinsic activity of fluorides to improve material stability remains a challenge. Herein, we develop an innovative four-step synthetic strategy (electrochemical deposition → co-precipitation → ligand exchange → in situ fluorination) to engineer three-dimensional porous Fe-doped CoF nanocubes vertically anchored on MXene (Fe-CoF/MXene/NF).

Free phenol and cresol isomers in human samples have drawn interest, particularly in the field of forensic toxicology. In this study, a simultaneous analytical method for the detection of unchanged phenol and three structural isomers of cresol in human blood was developed using GC-MS/MS. This method was applied to authentic human heart and peripheral vein blood samples obtained from a fatal intoxication case involving accidental exposure to liquified phenol containing cresol isomers.

An iron(III)-catalyzed methanesulfonic-acid-mediated [3 + 2 + 1C] annulation of enaminones assembling a 1,2-dihydropyridine (1,2-DHP) scaffold has been developed for the first time. This approach facilitates the rapid synthesis of 2-hydroxy-1,2-DHP derivatives in moderate to excellent yields with a broad substrate scope under mild conditions. The employment of 1,3-dioxolane as both a 1C synthon and solvent enables simultaneous incorporation of both a carbon atom and a hydroxy group into 1,2-DHPs.

The escalating crisis of multidrug resistance, together with the persistence of antibiotic residues in clinical and environmental matrices, demands integrated strategies that couple sensitive detection, efficient decontamination, and controlled delivery. However, current techniques for quantifying avibactam (AVI)-a broad-spectrum β-lactamase inhibitor-such as HPLC-UV lack the sensitivity and specificity required for both therapeutic drug monitoring and environmental surveillance. Encapsulation of AVI within cyclodextrins (CDs) may simultaneously enhance its stability, bioavailability, and detectability, while the high binding affinities of CDs position them as molecular traps capable of scavenging residual AVI.

Chiral amino acids (AAs) are important components in tea, contributing to its flavor and potential bioactivity. However, their analysis in complex tea matrices remains challenging due to the presence of enantiomers. In this study, a sensitive and green method was developed using supercritical fluid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (SFC-QQQ/MS) for the simultaneous separation and quantification of 20 pairs of chiral AAs in six types of Chinese tea.
