Article Abstract

Chemical dynamics Simulation studies on benzene dimer (Bz2) and benzene-hexachlorobenzene (Bz-HCB) as performed in the past suggest that the coupling between the monomeric (intramolecular) vibrational modes and modes generated due to the association of two monomers (intermolecular) has to be neither strong nor weak for a fast dissociation of the complex. To find the optimum coupling, four complexes are taken into consideration in this work, namely, benzene-monofluorobenzene, benzene-monochlorobenzene, benzene-trifluorobenzene (Bz-TFB), and benzene-trichlorobenzene. Bz-TFB has the highest rate of dissociation among all seven complexes, including Bz2, Bz-HCB, and Bz-HFB (HFB stands for hexafluorobenzene). The set of vibrational frequencies of Bz-TFB is mainly the reason for this fast dissociation. The mass of chlorine in Bz-HCB is optimized to match its vibrational frequencies similar to those of Bz-TFB, and the dissociation of Bz-HCB becomes faster. The power spectrum of Bz-TFB, Bz-HCB, and Bz-HCB with the modified mass of chlorine is also computed to understand the extent of the said coupling in these complexes.

The representation of the electronic structure of benzene is important for understanding the properties of planar and monocyclic organic carbon compounds. Resonant Kekulé and conjugated structures based on localized and delocalized electronic theories, respectively, can be used to depict the ground state of benzene; however, depictions of its electrons vibrating in the excited states remain to be clarified. This paper presents a novel algorithm for exploring the three lowest lying vertically singlet excited states of benzene, focusing on the electronic excitations between occupied π and unoccupied π* orbitals.

This article reports a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the dual fluorescence property of three derivatives of p-amino o-hydroxy benzaldehyde molecules, namely, para-N,N-dimethylamino orthohydroxy benzaldehyde (tertiary PAOHBA), para-N-methylamino orthohydroxy benzaldehyde (secondary PAOHBA), and para-amino orthohydroxy benzaldehyde (primary PAOHBA) through ab initio calculations and excited state molecular dynamics. The results revealed that excited-state intramolecular proton transfer is responsible for the dual emission properties of such molecules. The conclusions are made based on the computed vibrational frequencies, excited state antiaromaticity, potential energy surfaces, absorption and emission spectra, and finally, from the excited state dynamics.

Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) is rapidly emerging as an excellent electrochemical analytical technique for the specific and sensitive detection of various biomarkers and hazardous trace metals. Among ECL emitters, gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) have proven to be excellent luminophores due to their remarkable luminescent properties, stability, and biocompatibility. However, the low ECL efficiency of AuNCs precludes their application in ultrasensitive biosensing.

This work studied three physical modifications, including ultrasound (US), ball-milling (BM), and cold plasma (CP) on Flammulina velutipes soluble dietary fibres (FV-SDF) regarding the structural and functional properties. Interestingly, BM was indicated to cause the most changes in SDF molecular structures among three modifications, refining surface morphology, significantly decreasing molecular weight, and exposing polar functional groups. This contributed to the greatly modified solubility and decreased viscosity of FV-SDF treated by BM that exerted a strong shear force onto SDF.

Thiophene derivatives are recognised for their notable biological and pharmacological properties. This study examines the electronic structure and antibacterial properties of 2-[(Trimethylsilyl)ethynyl]thiophene (2TSET), emphasising the effects of solvent environments. We utilised spectroscopic techniques such as Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), and Raman spectroscopy (FT-Raman) to verify the molecular geometry of 2TSET.
