Meloxicam (Mel), as a powerful and effective anti-inflammatory drug, is commonly employed for the treatment of various inflammatory diseases; however, the use of Mel at high doses or for extended periods could cause severe side effects in human visceral organs. Therefore, a simple, rapid, and reliable method is urgently needed to monitor Mel in biological samples. Herein, novel water-soluble luminescent nano-carbon dots (nano-Cdots) with outstanding physicochemical properties were prepared by a one-pot high-temperature hydrothermal process of ellagic acid and guanidine. The nano-Cdots were further used as an optical probe for the sensitive detection of Mel in serum samples through the cooperative mechanisms of the inner filter effect and photoelectron transfer. By employing this sensor, an excellent linear correlation was achieved between the relative luminescent intensity [(PL - PL)/PL] and the concentration of Mel in the range of 0.1 to 200 μM, with a limit of detection of 34.68 nM (3/). This sensor was effectively employed for the analysis of Mel in real serum samples, implying its potential development prospects for the advancement of drug analysis with carbon-based probes.

Background: The Therapeutic Effects of Steroids in IgA Nephropathy Global (TESTING) trial demonstrated that glucocorticoid therapy reduced proteinuria and improved kidney outcomes in patients with Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy (IgAN). Galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) plays a central role in IgAN pathogenesis by promoting immune complex formation. However, the effects of glucocorticoid on pathogenic IgA levels remain unclear.

Alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) is a critical biomarker implicated in inflammation, immune regulation, coagulation, and various pathological conditions such as liver fibrosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancers. However, its precise quantification remains challenging due to complex conformational dynamics, subtle abundance fluctuations, and interference from plasma proteins. Here, we present a label-free dynamic single-molecule sensing (LFDSMS) strategy for the sensitive and specific detection of A2M.

Methods: Blood samples were collected from 60 AML patients and 60 healthy controls to measure serum miR-411-3p and thereafter discuss its potential clinical value.
Results: Serum miR-411-3p was decreased in AML patients and was even lower in those with M4/M5 subtypes or high white blood cell count or adverse cytogenetic risk.

Livestock grazing endophyte-infected (E+) tall fescue can exhibit persistent systemic vasoconstriction and fescue toxicosis. Isoflavones in legumes, most notably red clover (RC), are known hypotensive agents. The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the effect of isoflavone supplementation via RC hay, every day or every other day (QOD), on average daily gain (ADG) of steers grazing E+ tall fescue pastures and their physiological recovery after grazing when managed on a non-toxic diet (28-d).
