Article Abstract

Metallic nanogaps have emerged as a versatile platform for realizing ultrastrong coupling in terahertz frequencies. Increasing the coupling strength generally involved reducing the gap width to minimize the mode volume, which presents challenges in fabrication and efficient material coupling. Here, we propose employing terahertz nanoslots, which can efficiently squeeze the mode volume in an extra dimension alongside the gap width. Our experiments using 500 nm wide nanoslots integrated with an organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite demonstrate ultrastrong phonon-photon coupling with a record-high Rabi splitting of 48% of the original resonance (Ω = 0.48ω), despite having a gap width 5 times larger than previously reported structures with Ω = 0.45ω. Mechanisms underlying this effective light--matter coupling are investigated with simulations using coupled mode theory. Moreover, bulk polariton analyses reveal that our results account for 68% of the theoretical maximum Rabi splitting, with the potential to reach 82% through further optimization of the nanoslots.

Postpartum Depression (PPD) is a significant perinatal mood disorder affecting many new mothers in the first postpartum year. It is characterized by emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes, often leading to delayed diagnosis due to nonspecific symptoms. PPD arises from a complex interplay of neuroendocrine, genetic, and psychosocial factors.

Colloidal gold technology has revolutionized viral diagnostics through its rapid, cost-effective, and user-friendly applications, particularly in point-of-care testing (POCT). This review synthesizes recent advancements, focusing on its role in detecting respiratory viruses, hepatitis viruses, and emerging pathogens. The technology leverages the unique optical and physicochemical properties of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), including localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and high surface-to-volume ratios, to achieve rapid antigen-antibody recognition with visual readouts within 15 min.

Background: It was hypothesized that high red cell distribution width (RDW) due to anemia and the low platelet count due to cirrhosis studies impacts the RDW to platelet ratio (RPR), which can be used as a predictor of significant fibrosis and cirrhosis. For evaluation of the severity of liver disease Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score is universally used.

Aims: To determine the correlation between RPR with CTP severity score in patients of chronic liver disease (CLD), and to evaluate the severity of CLD indirectly with RPR.

Department of Anesthesiology, Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Child Health, Guangzhou, China.

Purpose: Uncertainty persists regarding the optimal mode of mechanical ventilation for laparoscopic perioperative periods. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is an effective tool for monitoring and guiding lung-protective ventilation. This study aimed to compare the effects of pressure-controlled ventilation-volume guaranteed (PCV-VG) and volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) on pulmonary ventilation during laparoscopic surgery.

Janus MXene Fiber Constructed via Flake Orientation Engineering.

The orientation of MXene flakes has received increasing research attention as it plays a critical role in determining the performance of MXene-based assemblies. Engineering MXene flakes into horizontal or vertical orientations can offer distinct advantages such as higher electrical conductivity, higher mechanical strength, and more efficient ion/molecule transport across the flakes. However, the benefits of horizontal and vertical orientations are mutually exclusive, and both of them possess structural symmetry that restricts their ability for stimuli-responsive deformation.
