Lignin modifying enzymes (LMEs) have gained widespread recognition in depolymerization of lignin polymers by oxidative cleavage. LMEs are a robust class of biocatalysts that include lignin peroxidase (LiP), manganese peroxidase (MnP), versatile peroxidase (VP), laccase (LAC), and dye-decolorizing peroxidase (DyP). Members of the LMEs family act on phenolic, non-phenolic substrates and have been widely researched for valorization of lignin, oxidative cleavage of xenobiotics and phenolics. LMEs implementation in the biotechnological and industrial sectors has sparked significant attention, although its potential future applications remain underexploited. To understand the mechanism of LMEs in sustainable pollution mitigation, several studies have been undertaken to assess the feasibility of LMEs in correlating to diverse pollutants for binding and intermolecular interactions at the molecular level. However, further investigation is required to fully comprehend the underlying mechanism. In this review we presented the key structural and functional features of LMEs, including the computational aspects, as well as the advanced applications in biotechnology and industrial research. Furthermore, concluding remarks and a look ahead, the use of LMEs coupled with computational framework, built upon artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), has been emphasized as a recent milestone in environmental research.

Lignocellulose is the most abundant renewable raw material on Earth, and its utilization is an important direction to achieve green and sustainable development. White rot fungi (WRF) have attracted considerable attention owing to their sophisticated enzyme systems, which are highly effective in breaking down lignocellulosic biomass, particularly lignin. The rapid advancements in bioinformatics and the emergence of sophisticated genetic manipulation techniques have catalyzed transformative developments in various dimensions of lignin-modifying enzymes (LMEs) research, including the mining of enzyme gene resources, as well as the production and regulation of their expression.

Semantic processing remains relatively preserved during healthy aging, but the mechanisms are poorly understood. Herein, we use dynamic functional mapping based on magnetoencephalography to examine the neural oscillations serving semantic processing across the adult lifespan (N = 154; 21-87 years). Task-related oscillatory dynamics were imaged using a beamformer and whole-brain linear mixed-effects (LME) models were calculated with age and task condition (semantically-related or -unrelated) as factors.

Few studies have examined the effects of co-exposure to metals and phenols on heart rate variability (HRV), and the underlying mechanisms are unknown. We aim to investigate individual and joint associations of metals and phenols with HRV and the mediating role of oxidative stress among 118 adults in Wuhan with 3 repeated visits. Urine samples of 23 metals, 6 phenols and 3 oxidative stress biomarkers were measured.

Apathy is a common neuropsychiatric symptom (NPS) in Alzheimer's disease (AD) but can emerge earlier in prodromal and even preclinical stages as part of mild behavioural impairment (MBI-apathy), a syndrome defined by emergent and persistent NPS. In dementia, apathy is associated with higher morbidity, mortality, and caregiver distress. However, the significance of MBI-apathy in dementia-free persons, including its associations with AD biomarkers, remains unclear.

Gallium-based liquid metal alloys (GaLMAs) have widespread applications ranging from soft electronics, energy devices, and catalysis. GaLMAs can be transformed into liquid metal emulsions (LMEs) to modify their rheology for facile patterning, processing, and material integration for GaLMA-based device fabrication. One drawback of using LMEs is reduced electrical conductivity owing to the oxides that form on the surface of dispersed liquid metal droplets.
