Introduction: Recognition and management of medical emergencies in dental practice is an essential topic area in dental education. However, limited published research on the topic is available from dental institutions in lower-middle income countries (LMICs). Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the teaching methodologies and self-reported confidence of dental undergraduate (predoctoral) students in the management of medical emergencies likely to be encountered in clinical dental practice.

BackgroundIn 2023, a collaborative UNICEF-WHO group introduced the concept of small vulnerable newborns (SVNs) to improve the identification of newborns at increased risk of adverse outcomes and to guide more effective preventive strategies. However, global data on the prevalence of SVNs remains scarce. This study aimed to examine secular trends in the prevalence of SVNs and their three subgroups, namely term small for gestational age (SGA), preterm SGA, and preterm non-SGA, in the Japanese population.

In the 1820s, Stockholm Observatory undertook a significant upgrade of its instruments. The new acquisitions included a meridian circle, crafted by Traugott Ertel in Munich, which - after extensive delays - was finally installed at the observatory in 1834. Despite its advanced capabilities, the instrument saw limited use during its first forty years, as observatory directors were largely occupied with geodetic projects for the Crown.

The pine-forest guardian Dastarcus helophoroides mainly rely on olfaction to locate its host accurately and interact socially. Odorant binding proteins of D. helophoroides play an important role in olfactory recognition and transporting odors to olfactory receptors to trigger signal transduction.
