The development of high-performance electrode materials is crucial for the advancement of sodium ion batteries (SIBs), and NiCo S has been identified as a promising anode material due to its high theoretical capacity and abundant redox centers. However, its practical application in SIBs is hampered by issues such as severe volume variations and poor cycle stability. Herein, the Mn-doped NiCo S @graphene nanosheets (GNs) composite electrodes with hollow nanocages were designed using a structure engineering method to relieve the volume expansion and improve the transport kinetics and conductivity of the NiCo S electrode during cycling. Physical characterization and electrochemical tests, combined with density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that the resulting 3 % Mn-NCS@GNs electrode demonstrates excellent electrochemical performance (352.9 mAh g at 200 mA g after 200 cycles, and 315.3 mAh g at 5000 mA g ). This work provides a promising strategy for enhancing the sodium storage performance of metal sulfide electrodes.

Frozen storage deteriorates the texture and digestibility of frozen rice dough by damaging gliadin structure and starch integrity. This study investigated carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCh) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMCNa) as cry-oprotectants to mitigate these effects. Comprehensive analysis utilizing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), texture profile analysis (TPA), dynamic contact angle measurement (DCAT21), reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC), and circular dichroism (CD) demonstrated that 1.

Polymer-derived ceramics are a versatile class of multifunctional materials synthesized the high-temperature treatment of a preceramic polymer. In this work, we report the synthesis of a vanadium carbide-embedded carbonaceous hybrid by pyrolyzing a modified preceramic polymer incorporating vanadium acetylacetonate in a polysilsesquioxane followed by hydrofluoric acid etching. The structural and microscopic characterisation confirmed the uniform distribution of nanoparticulate vanadium carbide in the matrix.

Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) have emerged as promising cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to their low cost, simple preparation, and high theoretical specific capacity. The integration of high-entropy concepts with framework-structured PBAs has pioneered a new pathway for performance optimization in SIBs cathodes. However, most scholars have only studied the five elements constituting high entropy as a whole, while challenges such as the role of each element and optimization of the proportions among constituent elements remain unresolved.

Hard carbon (HC) has emerged as a promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) owing to its superior sodium storage performance. However, the high cost of conventional HC precursors remains a critical challenge. To address this, coal─a low-cost, carbon-rich precursor─has been explored for HC synthesis.

Low-temperature rechargeable batteries face great challenges due to the sluggish reaction kinetics. Redox covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with porous structures provide a viable solution to accelerate the ionic diffusion and reaction kinetics at low temperatures. However, the applications of COFs in low-temperature batteries are still at their infancy stage.
