This report describes highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAI) H5N1 infections in carnivores in Alaska, US between 2022 and 2024, including a black bear (Ursus americanus), a brown bear (Ursus arctos), and the first known report of HPAI in an ermine (Mustela ermina). The two bears were cubs, and the ermine was a young adult. The black bear and ermine were euthanized after demonstrating neurologic signs, including circling, blindness, ataxia, or seizures.

Objective: To describe the clinical presentation of a dog with eunatremic, eukalemic hypoadrenocorticism (EEH) with multifocal, asymmetrical neurological signs.

Case Summary: A 7-year-old neutered male miniature Poodle presented for collapse, vomiting, and acute onset of neurological signs. The dog was obtunded and nonambulatory, with a right-sided head tilt and turn with rotary nystagmus.

Poorly differentiated thyroid malignancy, a rare histological type of aggressive thyroid malignancy with associated difficulties and gaps in its histological and molecular characterization, might lead to challenging clinical presentations that require a prompt multimodal approach. This case study involved a 56-year-old, non-smoking male with a rapidly developing goiter (within 2-3 months) in association with mild, non-specific neck compressive symptoms. His medical history was irrelevant.
