Article Abstract

The B-site Fe/Os ordered and disordered quadruple perovskite oxides CaCuFeOsO were synthesized under different high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. The B-site ordered CaCuFeOsO is a system with a very high ferrimagnetic ordering temperature of 580 K having the Cu(↑)Fe(↑)Os(↓) charge and spin arrangement. In comparison, the highly disordered CaCuFeOsO has a reduced magnetic transition temperature of about 350 K. The CuFeOs charge combination remains the same without any sign of changes in the valence state of the constituent ions. Although the average net moments of each sublattice are reduced, the average ferrimagnetic spin arrangement is unaltered. The robustness of the basic magnetic properties of CaCuFeOsO against site disorder may be taken as an indication of the tendency to maintain the short-range order of the atomic constituents.

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) are rapidly developing as a class of versatile materials combining the exceptional optoelectronic characteristics with tunable ferroelectricity and nonlinear optical responses. Spanning across the three-dimensional, two-dimensional, and one-dimensional architectures, these materials have demonstrated exceptional structural diversity, providing immense opportunities for tailored property design. We start by referencing the classic oxide perovskites, sharing differences and similarities of these material systems.

Lead-free halide perovskite memristors for scalable crossbar arrays.

Nano Converg

August 2025

Department of Semiconductor Systems Engineering, Sejong University, Seoul, 05006, Republic of Korea.

Lead-free halide-perovskite memristors have advanced rapidly from initial proof-of-concept junctions to centimeter-scale selector-free crossbar arrays, maintaining full compatibility with CMOS backend processes. In these highly interconnected matrices, surface passivation, strain-relief interfaces, and non-toxic B-site substitutions successfully reduce sneak currents and stabilize resistance states. The Introduction section lays out the structural and functional basis, detailing phase behavior, bandgap tunability, and tolerance-factor-guided crystal design within Ruddlesden-Popper, Dion-Jacobson, vacancy-ordered, and double-perovskite frameworks, each of which is evaluated for its ability to confine filaments and reduce crosstalk in crossbar configurations.

We present Raman spectroscopy results backed by first-principles calculations and investigate the nature of possible spin-phonon coupling (SPC) in a Gd-doped YCoMnO (YGCMO) double perovskite oxide. The influence of Gd substitution, A-site ordering and anti-site disorder is also studied. YGCMO exhibits anti-site disorder leading to both ferromagnetic (between Co and Mn) and antiferromagnetic interactions (Co-Co, Mn-Mn, and Gd-Co/Mn), making the SPC quite intriguing.

Materials with excellent nonlinear optical properties are critical for advancing optoelectronic technologies, particularly in energy storage and ultrafast photonic devices. High-entropy perovskite oxides (HEPOs) have emerged as promising candidates due to their chemical stability and configurational complexity. In this work, HEPO thin films, ()(), were fabricated using the pulsed-laser deposition technique.

Improving Phase Stability of α-CsPbI through Combined Strain-Doping Engineering: Insights from First-Principles Calculations and Machine Learning.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

August 2025

Department of Micro/Nano Electronics, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Efficient Utilization of Solar Energy, Engineering Research Center of Thin Film Optoelectronics Technology (Ministry of Education), Nankai University, Tianjin 300350, China.

The all-inorganic perovskite of cubic CsPbI (α-CsPbI) exhibited high thermal stability, owing to the absence of volatile organic cations. However, the poor phase stability at room temperature limits its practical applications. In this work, the phase transition mechanism of CsPbI from the cubic phase (α) to the tetragonal phase (β) was studied by first-principles calculations.
