Bone-marrow derived stem cells (BMSCs) can differentiate into several mesenchymal cell lines that are suitable for bone and dental tissue engineering. This study was aimed to assess the efficacy of cell therapy in direct pulp capping (DPC) of canine teeth using autologous BMSCs along with collagen/hydroxyapatite hybrid scaffold in terms of the quantity and quality of calcified bridge formation. The teeth were randomly divided into three groups of DPC with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), hydroxyapatite/collagen hybrid scaffold alone and BMSCs with hydroxyapatite/collagen hybrid scaffold. DPC was performed under general anesthesia in cavities prepared on the buccal surfaces of mandibular and maxillary premolars of the same dogs from which, stem cells had been isolated. All cavities were then restored with light-cure resin modified glass ionomer cement. Histomorphometric assessments after 12 weeks showed formation of dentinal bridge following DPC with BMSCs and MTA. The efficacy of MTA for calcified bridge formation following DPC was significantly higher than that of BMSCs plus hybrid scaffold. According to the present study, we concluded DPC using BMSCs and hybrid scaffold did not provide clinically noticeable results in canine patients.

Copper ions are essential elements in the human body and participate in various physiological activities in the bodies of organisms. Herein, an ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensor was developed for detection of copper ions (Cu) based on FeO@Au magnetic nanoparticles (FeO@Au MNPs) and a Cu-dependent DNAzyme assisted nicking endonuclease signal amplification (NESA) strategy. dsDNA is formed by a hybridization reaction between DNA S2 and S1 immobilized on the surface of FeO@Au MNPs.

Background: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a highly carcinogenic mycotoxin frequently found in contaminated food products, posing a significant threat to public health and food safety. Therefore, the development of rapid, sensitive, and reliable detection methods for AFB1 is critical for early warning and prevention. However, traditional detection techniques often require expensive equipment, skilled personnel, and complex procedures, limiting their suitability for on-site applications.

Sinonasal mucosal melanoma (SNMM) is a rare aggressive malignancy of the sinonasal tract. Due to its advanced clinical presentation and frequent late-stage diagnosis, the 5-year survival rate is less than 30%, with an even worse prognosis in patients with distant metastasis (SNMM-M). Therefore, characterizing the molecular landscape of SNMM may provide novel therapeutic targets for SNMM-M.

This study addresses critical technical challenges in fabricating functional pigmented skin models via 3D bioprinting through the synergistic integration of droplet-based deposition and precision motion control. A hybrid bioprinting strategy was developed to create multilayer biomimetic architectures: the dermal layer was fabricated through extrusion of gelatin methacryloyl-polyacrylamide (GelMA-PAM) composites, while the epidermal layer incorporated precisely patterned melanocyte-laden GelMA-PAM arrays deposited via microvalve technology, subsequently solidified and populated with keratinocytes. To enhance printing reliability, a fractional-order proportional-integral control system optimized through particle swarm optimization (PSO-FOPI) was implemented, significantly improving motor speed regulation and positioning accuracy.

Fibrinogen nanofiber scaffolds hold promise for tissue engineering and wound healing due to their similarity to fibrin clots. We studied how alkaline salts (Na, K) influence fibrinogen precipitation during drying of highly saline dispersions. In situ roughness (Aq) monitoring revealed coprecipitation of salts and fibrinogen.
