Background: Respiration is an important physiological activity of eggs and is closely related to their freshness. To further observe the diffusion of carbon dioxide released by egg respiration, we used a respirometer to measure the respiration parameters of eggs stored at room temperature and performed a respiration simulation using Fluent software. This paper also explores the relationship between respiratory intensity, freshness, and storage period.
Results: The results demonstrate that the diffusion of carbon dioxide released from the respiration of eggs is related to the characteristics of heavy gas diffusion. By comparison, the simulated value (0.0199 m s ) is close to the experimental value (0.0208 m s ), which indicates that the simulation and analysis results are valid. In addition, the logarithmic model was used to assess the relationship between respiration intensity, Haugh unit, and the yolk index (R values 0.89 and 0.87). The R of the relationship between the real and the predicted Haugh unit value and the yolk index are 0.9 and 0.84 respectively, indicating that the model is a good fit. The equivalent egg age model was established using nonlinear regression, where the correlation coefficient R was 0.888 and P < 0.01, indicating it was both stable and reliable.
Conclusion: The standard k-ε model is suitable for egg respiration simulation analysis. Respiratory intensity can be used as a potential index for nondestructive testing of egg freshness, which is a new method for nondestructive testing of egg freshness and storage period. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Current research indicates that polyethylene terephthalate microplastics (PET-MPs) may significantly impair male reproductive function. This study aimed to investigate the potential molecular mechanisms underlying this impairment. Potential gene targets of PET-MPs were predicted via the SwissTargetPrediction database.

Modelling cardiovascular disease is at the forefront of efforts to use computational tools to assist in the analysis and forecasting of an individual's state of health. To build trust in such tools, it is crucial to understand how different approaches perform when applied to a nominally identical scenario, both singularly and across a population. To examine such differences, we have studied the flow in aneurysms located on the internal carotid artery and middle cerebral artery using the commercial solver Ansys CFX and the open-source code HemeLB.

Background: Existing longitudinal cohort study data and associated biospecimen libraries provide abundant opportunities to efficiently examine new hypotheses through retrospective specimen testing. Outcome-dependent sampling (ODS) methods offer a powerful alternative to random sampling when testing all available specimens is not feasible or biospecimen preservation is desired. For repeated binary outcomes, a common ODS approach is to extend the case-control framework to the longitudinal setting.

The Buchwald-Hartwig (B-H) reaction graph, a novel graph for deep learning models, is designed to simulate the interactions among multiple chemical components in the B-H reaction by representing each reactant as an individual node within a custom-designed reaction graph, thereby capturing both single-molecule and intermolecular relationship features. Trained on a high-throughput B-H reaction data set, B-H Reaction Graph Neural Network (BH-RGNN) achieves near-state-of-the-art performance with an score of 0.971 while maintaining low computational costs.

Objective: We designed a new distractor pairing a bioabsorbable upper fixing plate fixed by bioabsorbable screws with a traditional titanium distractor to simplify the second surgery removing the distractor after mandibular distraction osteogenesis. The present study aims to evaluate its biomechanical properties using finite element method.
Materials And Methods: Ten computer-aided designed models simulating mandibles of 5 patients under 2 working conditions, the instance of distraction and mastication, were produced.
