Article Abstract

Introduction: Nutrient deficiency and immune and inflammatory disturbances in early life may compromise neurodevelopment and be implicated in the aetiology of psychiatric disorders. However, current evidence is limited by its predominantly observational nature. COpenhagen Prospective Study on Neuro-PSYCHiatric Development (COPSYCH) is a research alliance between Copenhagen Prospective Studies on Asthma in Childhood (COPSAC) and Center for Clinical Intervention and Neuropsychiatric Schizophrenia Research with the overall aim to investigate effects of prenatal and early life exposures on neurodevelopment at 10 years. COPSYCH will investigate the impact of prenatal n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPUFA) and high-dose vitamin D supplementation on neurodevelopment reflected by brain development, neurocognition and psychopathology. Moreover, the neurodevelopmental impact of early life exposures such as infections, low grade inflammation and the gut microbiome will be scrutinised.

Methods And Analysis: COPSYCH is based on the prospective and ongoing COPSAC birth cohort of 700 mother-child pairs. Randomised controlled trials of supplementation with n-3 LCPUFA and/or high-dose vitamin D or placebo in the third trimester were embedded in a factorial 2×2 design (ClinicalTrials.gov: ). This unique cohort provides deep phenotyping data from 14 previous clinical follow-up visits and exposure assessments since birth. The ongoing 10-year visit is a 2-day visit. Day 1 includes a comprehensive neurocognitive examination, and assessment of psychopathological dimensions, and assessment of categorical psychopathology. Day 2 includes acquisition of brain structural, diffusion and functional sequences using 3 Tesla MRI. Study outcomes are neurocognitive, psychopathological and MRI measures.

Ethics And Dissemination: This study has been approved by the Danish National Committee on Health Research Ethics and The Danish Data Protection Agency. The study is conducted in accordance with the guiding principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Parents gave written informed consent before enrolment.

Molecular characterization of endosomal self RNA Rmrp-engaged TLR3 dimerization to prime innate activation.

The pre-dimerization of endosome-localized RNA sensor Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) is required for its innate recognition, yet how TLR3 pre-dimers are formed and precisely primed for innate activation remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that endosome-localized self RNA Rmrp directly binds to TLR3 and induces TLR3 dimerization in the early endosome but does not interact with endosome-localized TLR7, TLR8, TLR9 or cytoplasmic RNA sensor RIG-I under homeostatic conditions. Cryo-EM structure of Rmrp-TLR3 complex reveals a novel lapped conformation of TLR3 dimer engaged by Rmrp, which is distinct from the activation mechanism by dsRNA and the specific structural feature at the 3'-end of Rmrp is critical for its functional interaction with TLR3.

Deadness: psychoanalytic reflections.

September 2025

MD, 100 Grays Lane, PH-698, Haverford, PA, 19041, USA.

This paper elucidates the subjective experience of 'deadness.' Categorizing it into melancholic (due to pervasive ego inhibitions secondary to guilt) and schizoid (due to the internalization of profound early neglect) types, the paper describes the manifestations of deadness in the realms of self-experience, interpersonal relations, and attitudes towards life and death. It also outlines therapeutic strategies to ameliorate 'deadness.

Natal dispersal is a key process in ecology and evolution. Similarities of dispersal patterns between relatives can lead to small-scale kin structure within populations with consequences for population dynamics and genetics. Most studies have focused on birds, lizards, and small mammals.

Glutamine: fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase (GFAT) is the first rate-limiting enzyme in the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway, which plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including chitin metabolism in insects. Locusta migratoria, a widespread and highly destructive agricultural pest, poses a significant threat due to its rapid reproduction and long-distance migration. In this study, we identified and characterized LmGFAT as a key regulator of locust development.

September 2025

Département interdisciplinaire d'organisation du parcours patient, Gustave Roussy, 114 rue Édouard-Vaillant, 94805 Villejuif cedex, France.

As the number of cancer treatments increases, new specific toxicities are emerging, requiring early and specialized treatment. The Gustave-Roussy center in Villejuif, near Paris, has set up a multidisciplinary toxicity pathway (ImmunoTox multidisciplinary consultation meeting, day hospital, mobile team). This includes an advanced practice nurse to optimize the management of undesirable effects, improve quality of life and mobilize all related skills.
