Promiscuity, or selectivity on a spectrum, is an encoded feature in biomolecular anion recognition. To unravel the molecular drivers of promiscuous anion recognition, we have employed a comprehensive approach - spanning experiment and theory - with the Staphylococcus carnosus nitrate regulatory element A (ScNreA) as a model. Thermodynamic analysis reveals that ScNreA complexation with native nitrate and nitrite or non-native iodide is an exothermic process.

Goat milk is prized for its nutritional value, but the illegal addition of δ-decanolactone to enhance flavor poses risks to product integrity and safety. This study employed a tripartite multi-omics framework integrating metabolomics, lipidomics, and proteomics, combined with FTIR and CLSM to systematically elucidate the multifaceted effects of δ-decanolactone on goat milk. Chemometric and bioinformatic pipelines identified dysregulated molecules and pathways, while molecular docking validated interactions with key targets.

Targeted metabolomic and transcriptomic reveal the regulatory network of ultrasound on polyphenol biosynthesis in tender coconut flesh during storage.

Food Chem (Oxf)

December 2025

Hainan University-HSF/LWL Collaborative Innovation Laboratory, School of Food Science and Engineering, Hainan University, Haikou 570228, PR China.

Coconut flesh, the solid endosperm, of coconut, which is rich in fat, protein and polyphenols. To investigate the impact of ultrasound treatment on the biosynthesis of polyphenols in tender coconut flesh during storage, the targeted metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses were employed. A total of 36 phenolic compounds were identified, of which catechin, epicatechin, gossypol and vanillic acid were the most abundant ones in 'Hainan Tall' coconut flesh.

The diamide insecticide cyantraniliprole (CYA) and the triazole fungicide difenoconazole (DIF) are frequently co-detected in bee-related matrices. However, the interactive effects of these compounds on honey bee (Apis mellifera L.) physiology remain insufficiently elucidated.

The cellular epigenetic blueprint of plant regeneration.

Curr Opin Plant Biol

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Gene Function and Modulation Research, Beijing Advanced Center of RNA Biology (BEACON), School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, 100871, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Plants exhibit remarkable regenerative capacities, enabling tissue repair, de novo organogenesis, and somatic embryogenesis in response to mechanical injury or phytohormone induction. At the cellular level, this process is driven by the establishment of pluripotency and cell fate specification, regulated through dynamic epigenomic remodeling. Emerging studies have begun to unravel the intricate regulatory circuits governing regeneration in a cell-type- and lineage-specific manner.
