Background: Inherited dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) contributes to approximately 25% of idiopathic DCM cases, and the proportion is even higher in familial DCM patients. Most studies have focused on familial DCM, whereas the genetic profile of sporadic DCM in Chinese patients remains unknown.
Methods: Between June 2018 and September 2019, 24 patients diagnosed with idiopathic DCM without a family history were included in the present study. All patients underwent genetic screening for 80 DCM-related genes using targeted next-generation sequencing.
Results: By in silico analysis, 10 of 99 detected variants were considered pathogenic or likely-pathogenic, including seven TTN truncating variants (TTNtv), one in-frame deletion in TNNT2, one missense mutation in RBM20, and one frameshift deletion variant in FLNC. Of these variants, eight are reported for the first time.
Conclusions: Using targeted next-generation sequencing, potential genetic causes of idiopathic DCM were identified. Sarcomere mutations remained the most common genetic cause of inherited DCM in this cohort of sporadic Chinese DCM.

Oncolytic virotherapy (OVT) has emerged as a promising and innovative cancer treatment strategy that harnesses engineered viruses to selectively infect, replicate within, and destroys malignant cells while sparing healthy tissues. Beyond direct oncolysis, oncolytic viruses (OVs) exploit tumor-specific metabolic, antiviral, and immunological vulnerabilities to reshape the tumor microenvironment (TME) and initiate systemic antitumor immunity. Despite promising results from preclinical and clinical studies, several barriers, including inefficient intratumoral virus delivery, immune clearance, and tumor heterogeneity, continue to limit the therapeutic advantages of OVT as a standalone modality and hindered its clinical success.

Diabetic wounds present persistent challenges due to impaired healing, recurrent infection, oxidative stress, and dysregulated glucose metabolism. Bioinspired polymeric microneedle (MN) patches have emerged as multifunctional platforms capable of penetrating the stratum corneum to deliver therapeutics directly into the dermis, enabling glucose regulation, antimicrobial action, reactive oxygen species (ROS) modulation, and proangiogenic stimulation. Recent experimental evidence has demonstrated that the integration of glucose oxidase-loaded porous metal-organic frameworks, photothermal nanomaterials, and antioxidant hydrogels within dissolvable MNs achieves synergistic bactericidal effects, accelerates collagen deposition, and enhances neovascularization in diabetic wound models.

Traditional methods, including chemical disinfectants, procedural protocols, and physical hygiene measures, have contributed to reductions in HAIs but remain limited by human error, environmental toxicity, and the rise of antimicrobial resistance. Advances in disinfection technologies, particularly ultraviolet-C (UV-C) systems, offer promising new avenues for safer, more effective pathogen control.
