Article Abstract

Based on the joint investigation in 287 healthy volunteers (150 left-Handers (LH)) of language task-induced asymmetries and intrinsic connectivity strength of the sentence-processing supramodal network, we show that individuals with atypical rightward language lateralization (N = 30, 25 LH) do not rely on an organization that simply mirrors that of typical leftward lateralized individuals. Actually, the resting-state organization in the atypicals showed that their sentence processing was underpinned by left and right networks both wired for language processing and highly interacting by strong interhemispheric intrinsic connectivity and larger corpus callosum volume. Such a loose hemispheric specialization for language permits the hosting of language in either the left and/or right hemisphere as assessed by a very high incidence of dissociations across various language task-induced asymmetries in this group.

Primate lateral intraparietal area (LIP) has been directly linked to perceptual categorization and decision-making. However, the intrinsic LIP circuitry that gives rise to the flexible generation of motor responses to sensory instruction remains unclear. Using retrograde tracers, we delineate two distinct operational compartments based on different intrinsic connectivity patterns of dorsal and ventral LIP.

Methylation of histone H3 at lysine 9 (H3K9me), a hallmark of heterochromatin, is catalyzed by Clr4/Suv39. Clr4/Suv39 contains two conserved domains-an N-terminal chromodomain and a C-terminal catalytic domain-connected by an intrinsically disordered region (IDR). Several mechanisms have been proposed to regulate Clr4/Suv39 activity, but how it is regulated under physiological conditions remains largely unknown.

Background: Workplace incivility experienced by nurses has a substantial impact on job withdrawal, psychological resilience and organizational commitment also show certain associations with both incivility and work withdrawal. However, the specific mechanisms underlying these factors remain unclear.

Aim: This study aimed to identify the relationship between workplace incivility and job withdrawal and the chain mediating effects of psychological resilience and organizational commitment.

Electric Field Influences on the Carrier Transport Characteristics of an Individual CsPbBr Microplate.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

September 2025

National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures, School of Physics, and Collaborative Innovation Center of Advanced Microstructures, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210093, China.

For optoelectronic devices based on lead-halide perovskites and other semiconductors, a comprehensive understanding of the electric field influences on the carrier transport characteristics is critical to the optimization of their practical performances. To fulfill this challenging goal, here we have employed photoluminescence spatial image and transient absorption microscopy measurements on an individual CsPbBr microplate biased at external voltages in an Au/CsPbBr/Au device. At the subpicosecond time scale, some photogenerated excitons are dissociated into free electrons and holes that drift toward the electrodes to leave behind unfilled defect sites, which are capable of scattering the residual excitons to yield a reduced diffusion coefficient.

Progress and Future Challenges in Bionic Drag Reduction Research Inspired by Fish Skin Properties.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

September 2025

College of Metrology Measurement and Instrument, China Jiliang University, Hangzhou 310018, China.

During the long course of evolution, fish have developed complex skin structures to adapt to the dynamic aquatic environment. These skin features not only reflect optimal adaptation to the aquatic environment but also play a key role in effectively reducing fluid drag and improving swimming efficiency, to reveal the intrinsic connection between the complex skin structure of fish and drag reduction performance and to provide new design ideas for the drag reduction surface of underwater vehicles. Based on the different drag reduction characteristics of fish skin structures, this paper divides existing biomimetic drag reduction technologies into three categories: riblet drag reduction, flexible drag reduction, and composite drag reduction.
