We present two new fisheye image datasets for training object and face detection models: VOC-360 and Wider-360. The fisheye images are created by post-processing regular images collected from two well-known datasets, VOC2012 and Wider Face, using a model for mapping regular to fisheye images implemented in Matlab. VOC-360 contains 39,575 fisheye images for object detection, segmentation, and classification. Wider-360 contains 63,897 fisheye images for face detection. These datasets will be useful for developing face and object detectors as well as segmentation modules for fisheye images while the efforts to collect and manually annotate true fisheye images are underway.

The polarization state of light in the maritime environment has untapped potential to reveal properties of the material constituents of the water column. Consequently, understanding the formation of polarization features is important for remote sensing and the fundamental science of ocean optics. In this study, the degree and angle of linear polarization (DoLP and AoLP) and the location of neutral points and neutral lines in the in-water upwelling and in-air downwelling oceanic light field were measured, modeled, and interpreted.

Keypoint detection and descriptor matching are essential in tasks like feature matching, object tracking, and 3D reconstruction. While CNN-based methods have advanced these areas, most focus on perspective projection cameras, with limited consideration of fisheye cameras, which introduce significant distortion. Conventional keypoint methods have limitations on fisheye images, causing camera models to underperform in hybrid camera systems.

Product engagement detection in retail environments is critical for understanding customer preferences through nonverbal cues such as gaze and hand movements. This study presents a system leveraging a 360-degree top-view fisheye camera combined with two perspective cameras, the only sensors required for deployment, effectively capturing subtle interactions even under occlusion or distant camera setups. Unlike conventional image-based gaze estimation methods that are sensitive to background variations and require capturing a person's full appearance, raising privacy concerns, our approach utilizes a novel Transformer-based encoder operating directly on 3D skeletal keypoints.
