The incidence of Salmonella enterica serovar Paratyphi A (PA) infection is on the rise and no licensed vaccines are available. We evaluated cell mediated immune (CMI) responses elicited in volunteers following immunization with a single dose (10 or 10 cfu) of a novel attenuated live oral PA-vaccine strain (CVD 1902). Results showed increases in PA-lipopolysaccharide-specific IgG- and/or IgA B-memory cells and production of IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-10, IL-23 and RANTES following stimulation with PA-antigens by peripheral blood mononuclear cells obtained 28 days post immunization. Flow cytometry assays revealed that vaccine elicited PA-specific CD8+ and/or CD4+ T effector/memory cells were predominantly multifunctional concomitantly expressing CD107a and/or producing IFN-γ, TNF-α and/or IL-2. Similar proportions of these MF cells expressed, or not, the gut homing marker integrin α4β7. The results suggest that immunization with CVD 1902 elicits CMI responses against PA supporting its further evaluation as a potential vaccine candidate against paratyphoid A fever.

The growing demand for high-performance chips, driven by digitalization and intelligence advancements, is accompanied by rising power consumption, highlighting the critical need for efficient thermal management in electronics. Graphene and its composites, characterized by their exceptional thermal conductivity, hold a distinctive position in this domain. The controlled synthesis of high-quality multilayer graphene composites, however, remains a significant challenge, hindering the full utilization of graphene's exceptional thermal conductivity.

Encapsulation is crucial for protecting graphene devices, but traditional whole-package encapsulations usually add bulky structures and reduce their flexibility. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) holds potential for graphene encapsulation, but faces challenges in large-area acquisition and conformal coverage due to limitations in exfoliation and transfer techniques. Graphene-skinned glass fiber fabric (GGFF), made via graphene CVD growth on each fiber of a glass fiber fabric, consists of a hierarchical conductive network, but pressure/deformation-induced inter-fiber contact resistance fluctuations destabilize its electrical conduction.

As electronics and instrumentation grow increasingly complex, multifunctional materials are essential for simplifying designs. Electrothermal and electromagnetic functions are commonly used, typically supplied by separate materials. Integrating them into a single material can reduce components and miniaturize systems.

The excellent impermeability makes graphene film an ideal candidate for thin film encapsulation technology. However, current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene-based barrier films can not provide sufficient moisture barrier performance, suggesting a lack of understanding in mechanism that dominates water diffusion in/through graphene stacks. Herein, we fabricate large-area graphene barrier films with a record-low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of 5 × 10g/(m·day), two orders of magnitude lower than previous works, in which two stacked Janus graphene films are intercalated by toluidine blue O (TBO) sub-monolayer: one side of graphene is decorated with fluorine- and oxygen-containing groups to allow crack-free transfer, while the other side is functionalized with hydroxyl groups to trap water.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) patients face abnormal lipid metabolism and increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk due to endocrine therapies (ETs). This study evaluates CVD incidence and lipid abnormalities in Chinese patients with early-stage hormone receptor-positive (HR+) BC to inform personalized treatments.
Methods: Data from female patients aged 18-80 years with stage I-III HR + BC registered in the National Cancer Center Oncology Information Database (NCCOID) (2013-2018) were analyzed.
