In the pursuit of sustainable urban planning, integrating land use simulation with carbon storage assessment is crucial for achieving the "dual carbon" goals. This study focuses on the Fuzhou Metropolitan Area, utilizing land use data from 2000, 2010, and 2020. By establishing three future development scenarios-natural, urban, and dual-carbon target scenarios-based on the "Fuzhou Metropolitan Area Development Plan," this research employ the Patch-generating Land Use Simulation (PLUS) and the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs (InVEST) models.

Passive radiative cooling technology shows great application in next-generation thermal regulation fields, but still suffers from thermodynamic limits. Combining evaporation cooling and radiative cooling offers a promising solution to address this drawback, however, existing dual-functional devices exhibit poor efficiency and structure stability. Inspired by the vapor transfer process in the tree, an encapsulate-structured cellulose hygroscopic aerogel (CHA) is proposed via unidirectional freeze casting of crosslinked cellulose nanofiber/AlO suspension and assembly of LiCl in 3D network of aerogel, featuring daytime radiative cooling integrated with hygroscopic-evaporation cooling functionality.

The context of global climate change, water stress has a significant impact on the ecological function and landscape value of urban greening shrubs. In this study, three typical greening shrubs (, × , and var. ) in North China were subjected to a two-year field-controlled experiment (2022-2023) with four water treatments: full irrigation, deficit irrigation, natural rainfall, and extreme drought.

Bio-waste treatment can cause substantial environmental impacts, but it also contributes to resource conservation through recovery of fertilizers, biogas, or other bio-based products. In this study, environmentally preferable management schemes for urban bio-wastes from different settlement structures and collection schemes are identified for the city of Kassel (Germany) as a case study. Life cycle assessment is used to assess management scenarios, taking flow-specific waste compositions and established bio-waste treatment processes (open and closed composting, tunnel and plug-flow digestion, municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI)) into consideration.

To investigate the effects of long-term alfalfa planting on the structure and diversity of soil ammonia-oxidizing microbial communities, this study conducted a field experiment in the semi-arid region of the Loess Plateau. Alfalfa fields planted in 2019 (L2019), 2012 (L2012), and 2003 (L2003) were studied, with farmland corn serving as the control (CK). High-throughput sequencing was used to examine the ammonia-oxidizing microbial communities and their interactions in alfalfa with varying planting durations.
