Article Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of functional movement screen (FMS)-based functional exercise in patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

Design: Randomized, controlled, single-blind trial.

Setting: Institutional, single center.

Patients: A total of 38 patients who underwent ACLR were recruited and randomly assigned to group 1 (n = 19) or group 2 (n = 19).

Interventions: Both groups received 6-month routine rehabilitation immediately after surgery. From the postoperative fourth to sixth month, group 1 received FMS-based functional exercise plus routine rehabilitation and group 2 received routine rehabilitation only. The FMS-based functional exercise was individualized and customized functional corrective exercise, which was designed based on the 3-month postoperative FMS results. The frequency of rehabilitation was 1 hour per session, twice a week, for a total duration of 6 months.

Main Outcome Measures: At 3 and 6 months postoperatively, patients were evaluated by FMS scoring, Lysholm Knee Score, and International Knee Documentation Committee 2000 Score.

Results: After the intervention, both groups had significantly increased FMS, Lysholm Knee Score, and International Knee Documentation Committee 2000 score. Group 1 had significantly greater changes in FMS (median: 4 vs 3, P < .001), Lysholm Knee Score (median: 24 vs 16, P = .001), and International Knee Documentation Committee 2000 Score (median: 22 vs 8, P < .001) than group 2.

Conclusion: The application of FMS-based functional exercise to patients after ACLR resulted in significant improvement in knee function and movements. The authors suggested integrating FMS evaluation and FMS-based training into routine post-ACLR rehabilitation programs.

Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Hitit University Erol Olçok, Education and Research Hospital, Çorum, Turkey.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the presence of sarcopenia in fibromyalgia and whether there is any relationship between physical performance, disease activity, pain levels, and the existence of sarcopenia.

Method: Fifty female patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) based on the classification criteria of the 2016 American College of Rheumatology and 50 healthy controls were admitted. Disease activity was evaluated with the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) and pain level was evaluated with the Numerical Rating Scale.

Background: Many countries worldwide face the problem of underdeveloped fundamental movement skills (FMS) in children. Active play (AP) holds significant potential for enhancing children's FMS based on its free-choice and unstructured nature, as well as its ease of implementation and dissemination. Therefore, the primary objective of this systematic review was to determine the effects of AP interventions on FMS in typically developing children.

Introduction: Frailty screening is important to guide treatment decisions for older patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the performance of frailty measures (FMs) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of FMs based on electronic health records (EHR) data in clinical settings for all-cause mortality in older patients with NSCLC.

Background: Previous research has suggests that cooperative learning methods and the development of fundamental motor skills support children's cognitive development, and further studies covering various aspects are recommended. In this study, as an alternative to traditional physical education classes including fundamental motor skill activities, we investigated the impact of cooperative learning methods incorporating these skills on children's visual-motor integration and selective attention.

Methods: A total of 60 boy children in the 10-11 age range were included in the study.

Fluorescent microspheres (FMs) are tiny particles with special functions that are widely employed in biological research. Counting of microscale FMs is a great challenge by capillary electrophoresis. Herein we developed a method to count 2 μm FMs based on a microfluidic chip with a gradual change in inner size.
