Inhibited attachment disordered behavior (IADB) is characterized by difficulty in establishing an attachment relationship with a primary caregiver; is associated with persistent social and emotional problems; and is observed most frequently in contexts of pathological care such as institutional rearing. Here, we seek to enhance understanding of the conditions that give rise to IADB among institutionalized children by examining prior family experiences of neglect and deprivation and concurrent relational experiences at the institution. The sample is comprised of 146 children, between 36 and 78 months. IADB was assessed using a semi-structured interview administered to the child's primary caregiver. Results revealed that both pre-institutionalization experiences (e.g. parental abandonment) and current relational ones (e.g. low quality of child-caregiver relationship) predicted IADB. Findings are discussed in light of the need to promote conditions which foster the establishment and maintenance of the child's selective attachment to a caregiving figure.

Punicalagin, a polyphenolic compound extracted from pomegranate peel, has received increasing attention in recent years due to its antibacterial and antiviral properties. Punicalagin is capable of inhibiting bacterial growth at sub-inhibitory concentrations by affecting cell membrane formation, disrupting membrane integrity, altering cell permeability, affecting efflux pumps, interfering with quorum sensing and influencing virulence factors. Additionally, punicalagin inhibits viruses by modulating enzyme activity, interacting with viral surface proteins, affecting gene expression, blocking viral attachment, disrupting virus receptor interaction and inhibiting viral replication.

In this study, we develop a hyaluronic-tannic acid (HA-TA) hydrogel loaded with Cu nanoparticles attach to MXene (MXene@Cu) to explore its potential as a targeted breast cancer treatment. The MXene@Cu nanosheets exhibit activity in depleting glutathione (GSH) and inducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) through the Fenton-like reaction. They can down-regulate the activity of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), leading to the accumulation of lipid peroxides (LPO) and inducing ferroptosis in tumor cells.

The TRPA1 channel has recently emerged as a critical target for pain relief since its antagonists target the beginning of the pain transduction pathway and, thus, are devoid of side effects such as sedation, dizziness, somnolence, or cognitive impairment.
