A novel fluorescence probe 1 based on triphenylamine was synthesized and characterized by NMR, IR, high resolution mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. Its fluorescence was quenched when pH below 2. There was a linear relationship between the fluorescence intensity and pH value ranged from 2 to 7. And its fluorescence emission was reversibility in acidic and alkaline solution. Furthermore, it exhibited remarkable selectivity and high sensitivity to Fe and was able to detect Fe in aqueous solution with low detection limit of 0.511μM. Job plot showed that the binding stoichiometry of 1 with Fe was 1:1. Further observations of H NMR titration suggested that coordination interaction between Fe and nitrogen atom on CN bond promoted the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) or energy transfer process causing fluorescence quenching. Additionally, 1 was also able to be applied for detecting Fe in living cell and bioimaging.

Soft tissue sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of malignancies arising from mesenchymal cells. Recent advancements in genomic profiling have identified novel gene fusions in these tumors, offering new insights into their pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets. Here, we describe a spindle cell sarcoma harboring a novel gene fusion.

Microbial co-cultures provide significant advantages over commonly used axenic cultures in biotechnological processes, including increased productivity and access to novel natural products. However, differentiated quantification of the microorganisms in co-cultures remains challenging using conventional measurement techniques. To address this, a fluorescence-based approach was developed to enable the differentiated online monitoring of microbial growth in co-cultures.

The antibiotic contamination in aquatic environments, particularly in aquaculture systems, poses substantial risks to ecological balance and human health. To address this issue, we engineered a novel ratiometric fluorescent probe utilizing dual-emission carbon dots (D-CDs) synthesized from sustainable biomass carrot and nitrogen-rich precursors (melamine and o-phenylenediamine) through an efficient one-pot hydrothermal approach. The D-CDs exhibited dual emission peaks at 425nm and 540 nm under 370nm excitation.

The spindle cell variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is exceptionally rare and poses significant diagnostic challenges due to its morphological overlap with other spindle cell lesions of the thyroid. We report a novel case of spindle cell variant PTC in a 66-year-old woman presenting with a TI-RADS 4 thyroid nodule, initially classified as Bethesda III on fine-needle aspiration. Histopathological examination revealed a biphasic tumor composed predominantly of bland spindle cells arranged in solid sheets and fascicles, admixed with entrapped thyroid follicles.
