The combination of an iridium(III) metallacycle and 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene catalyses rapidly and selectively the reduction of esters to aldehydes at room temperature with high yields through hydrosilylation followed by hydrolysis. The ester reduction involves the trapping of transient silyl cations by the 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene co-catalyst, supposedly by formation of an arenium intermediate whose role was addressed by DFT calculations.

Polyurethane (PU), a segmented block copolymer with chemically resistant urethane linkages and tunable architecture, presents persistent biological recycling challenges. This study presents a Bacterial Laccase-Mediated System (BLMS) derived from for efficient degradation of polyester- and polyether-PU. Utilizing the laccase CotA and mediator 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), the BLMS demonstrated effective de polymerization of both commercial and self-synthesized PU foams, including polyester- and polyether-types.

Over the past few years, alkali and alkaline earth metals have emerged as alternative catalysts to transition metal organometallics to catalyze the hydroboration of unsaturated compounds. A highly selective and cost-effective lithium-catalyzed method for the synthesis of an organoborane has been established based on the addition of a B-H bond to an unsaturated bond (polarized or unpolarized) using pinacolborane (HBPin). In the present work, the neosilyllithium-catalyzed hydroboration of nitriles, aldehydes, and esters has been investigated using high-level DLPNO-CCSD(T) calculations to unravel the mechanistic pathways and substrate-dependent reactivity.

In this study, yak bone collagen peptide-tea polyphenol binding peptides (YCP/TP) were successfully prepared and investigated for their positive effects in replacing nitrite to improve the color, texture, flavor and bacterial community structure of fermented sausages. Results showed that YCP/TP primarily binds through hydrogen bond interactions, enhancing its stability and functional properties. The YCP/TP can effectively inhibit the increase in pH, protein carbonyls and TBARS (p < 0.

Foxtail millet quality deteriorates during storage, but the mechanisms behind aging-related changes are not fully understood. This study investigated lipid degradation and volatile compound changes in stored foxtail millets, employing proteomics to uncover underlying quality decline mechanisms. After 30 days, fatty acid contents increased, accompanied by a general coarser grain surface texture.

We report the stereoselective synthesis of (17,18,36)-tonkinelin and its diastereomer (17,18,36)-tonkinelin a convergent strategy involving the stepwise construction of two key fragments: a chiral ester-derived phosphonium salt and a requisite aldehyde for a convergent Wittig olefination. Key transformations in the sequence include asymmetric dihydroxylation, Wittig olefination, ring-closing metathesis (RCM) and chemoselective diimide olefin reduction. The synthesized tonkinelins were fully characterized, and their spectroscopic data were found to be consistent with previously reported data.
