We investigated how surface roughness of a Ta/Ru buffer layer affects the degradation characteristics on MgO-based magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs). MTJs with worse surface roughness on the buffer layer showed increased resistance drift and degraded time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) characteristics. We suggest that this resulted from reduced MgO thickness on the MTJ with worse surface roughness on the buffer layer, which was estimated by the TDDB and analytic approach. As a result, surface roughness of the buffer layer is a critical factors that impacts the reliability of MTJs, and it should be controlled to have the smallest roughness value as possible.

Achieving a crack-free, high-surface-area photoanode is essential for maximizing the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this work, rutile titanium dioxide (rTiO) nanoflowers were synthesized hydrothermally and then conformally coated with copper(I) oxide (CuO) by RF magnetron sputtering to seal pre-existing cracks and to create a nanothorn surface favorable for dye adsorption. Systematic control of the sputtering time identified 60 min as optimal condition, yielding a photoanode thickness of about 6.

This study aimed to determine the influence of air abrasion on the shear bond strength (SBS) of universal adhesives when using different abrasive powders. The AquaCare Twin served as the injection device. The prepared bovine dentin specimens were air- abraded with alumina particles or bioactive glass before applying the universal adhesive (All Bond Universal, Clearfil Universal Bond Quick ER, or Scotchbond Universal Plus Adhesive).

Microplastics (MPs) and the plastisphere they form pose substantial ecological risks in aquatic environments and wastewater treatment processes. As a unique niche, the evolution of plastisphere in anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) systems remains poorly understood. This study investigated the physicochemical evolution of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) MPs and microbial succession within the plastisphere during a 30-day incubation with anammox granular sludge.

This study investigates the nanoscale surface morphology of Anopheles darlingi and Anopheles aquasalis mosquito wings using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and fractal analysis. High-resolution 3D AFM imaging revealed pronounced inter- and intra-species differences, with the ventral surface of An. darlingi (V-Ad) exhibiting the greatest roughness (Sq = 45.

The emergence of special scenarios involving small-sized penetrating wounds has imposed stricter performance requirements on shape-recovery hemostatic materials, particularly regarding their shape fixity and water-triggered shape recovery efficiency. Herein, an efficient shape-recovery sponge dressing with high shape fixity and high-speed liquid absorption, designated as CQT, was developed by integrating a sieve structure with the rough surface coating. The sieve structure, characterized by microporous structures on macroporous walls, enhanced the multi-level and connectivity of the overall pore network, which could improve compressive fixity via enhancing the energy dissipation required for rebound and enabled efficient shape recovery through augmented capillary action during fluid absorption.
