Fully Erasable Amphibious Adhesives Derived from Soybean Oil with Record-High Underwater Adhesion Strength.

Adv Mater

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun, 130012, P. R. China.

Developing amphibious adhesives that combine high adhesion strength with on-demand erasability in both dry and wet environments remains a significant challenge. In this study, biomass-derived, amphibious, and erasable adhesives are fabricated by grafting 3-aminobenzoic acid and 3-aminobenzeneboronic acid onto epoxidized soybean oil (ESO), yielding ESO-Am adhesives. These adhesives are dynamically cross-linked with boroxines, hydrogen bonds, and hydrogen-bonded hydrophobic nanodomains.

Molecular investigation of the progenitors, origin, and domestication patterns of diploid Chinese old garden roses.

September 2025

Mountain Ecological Restoration and Biodiversity Conservation Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province, Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chengdu, Sichuan 610213, PR China.

Background And Aims: Chinese old garden roses are major contributors in the genetic development of modern roses. The RoKSN gene is associated with continuous flowering in roses and is proposed to have originated from Chinese wild roses. However, the wild roses that are implicated in the breeding of Chinese old garden roses and the origin of the RoKSN locus remain unidentified.

Unlabelled: Sound harmonicity is foundational in complex auditory stimuli like music and vocalizations but it remains unclear how such spectrally complex stimuli are processed in the auditory cortex (ACtx). Subregions of the auditory cortex process are thought to process harmonic stimuli differently, and secondary ACtx (A2) layer (L) 2/3 is believed to be the most selective. Selective responses to sound features in ACtx are thought to emerge hierarchically starting from A1 L4.

The differential Fick method is well established for measuring effective pulmonary blood flow (EPBF) and cardiac output (CO) but until now it has only been used for patients on mechanical ventilation. Here we present and evaluate a new approach adapted to spontaneous breathing situations. Ten healthy subjects with diverse anthropometric and respiratory parameters were studied in the sitting position.
