Objective: To investigate the relationship between microalbuminuria (MA) and plasma high sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP).
Method: The plasma hsCRP level and urine albumin level of 746 Chinese people were detected with ELISA and analyzed, respectively.
Result: The hsCRP level of MA group increased significantly compared with the control group (2.23 +/- 3.35 mg/L vs 1.68 +/- 2.58 mg/L, P < 0.05), the incidence of MA increased significantly when the plasma hsCRP level was beyond 0.77 mg/L (P < 0.05); logistic analysis showed that the occurrence of MA was associated with the plasma hsCRP level (OR = 1.153, P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Increased plasma hsCRP was probably involved in the occurrence of MA, suggesting that inflammation may deteriorate endothelial dysfunction.

Rationale: Sepsis following hysteroscopy is an rare complication, with current evidence suggesting that routine prophylactic antibiotic administration may not be warranted. However, this does not imply that we should disregard vigilance regarding the potential occurrence of severe infections post-hysteroscopy.
Patient Concerns: A 27-year-old female underwent hysteroscopic resection of retained products of conception after incomplete medical abortion.

Infection with SARS-CoV-2 elevates the expression of cytokines, resulting in a cytokine storm that serves as the primary factor for severe illness and mortality; however, effective markers for predicting disease severity and preventing are lacking. Thus, we investigated the association between serum levels of nerve injury-induced protein 1 (Ninj1), a mediator of plasma membrane rupture, and the extent of lung damage in COVID-19 patients was examined to anticipate the severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study included 62 healthy participants and 264 patients with COVID-19.

Objectives: Natural products like Aronia () are promising candidates to manage metabolic abnormalities due to their bioactive compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of daily Aronia fruit extract supplementation on the components of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS), cardiovascular health, inflammation, and atherogenic markers in elderly patients.
Methods: Our study is a randomized controlled trial of 44 subjects (12 males and 32 females) diagnosed with MetS.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the diagnostic value of tumor protein translationally-controlled 1 (TPT1) in patients with sepsis and septic shock in the intensive care unit (ICU).MethodsThis single-center, prospectively planned observational study included 53 ICU patients with sepsis (30 with non-shock sepsis, 23 with septic shock) and 20 non-infected ICU controls. Plasma levels of TPT1, procalcitonin (PCT), and C-reactive protein (CRP) were measured on day 1 of ICU admission.
