Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a prevalent and progressive liver disorder closely linked to obesity and metabolic dysregulation. Traditional anthropometric measures such as body mass index (BMI) are limited in their ability to capture fat distribution and associated risk. This study aimed to develop and validate machine learning (ML) models for predicting MAFLD using detailed body composition metrics and to explore the relative contributions of adipose tissue features through explainable ML techniques.

Glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) is involved in the metabolism of glutamate and ammonia. It is regulated by multiple ligand variants, and hyper-active GDH mutants have been reported for hyperinsulinism hyperammonemia syndrome (HHS). Here, we constructed the wild-type human GDH and three human GDH454 mutants and investigated their degradation activity and performance under different GDH inhibitors.

Article Synopsis
  • A magnetic adsorption material using a metal-organic framework was created for extracting triazole fungicides through magnetic solid-phase extraction.
  • The material's efficiency was optimized and characterized, showing good detection linearity and low limits of detection for the fungicides.
  • The method was tested on fresh juice samples, finding no triazole fungicide residues, and demonstrated strong recoveries and low variation, indicating its potential for pesticide residue analysis.

In this work, a magnetic adsorption material based on a metal-organic framework (FeO@PPy@MIL-53(Fe)) was designed and prepared, as well as used as an adsorbent for the extraction of fungicides from fresh juice and environmental water. The material was subjected to a series of characterization analyses, which showed that the material has good potential for application as an adsorbent. The main parameters such as adsorbent dosage, adsorption time, elution time, pH value, and elution solvent which could affect the experiment results were optimized.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the role of the BET family (BRD2, BRD3, BRD4) in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), focusing on their expression levels, prognostic significance, and gene regulatory networks, revealing their potential as therapeutic targets.
  • - Analysis using various online databases showed that BRD2 and BRD3 are significantly overexpressed in ACC patients, with their expression correlating with cancer stage and lower expression linked to better survival rates.
  • - The research highlights the complex interactions between BRD family genes and their surrounding genetic network, indicating a significant frequency of alterations and potential pathways involved in ACC progression.

Reversible allosteric inhibitors of kidney-type glutaminase (GLS1, KGA) showed incomplete inhibition of cancer cell proliferation and poor efficacy. Here, we investigate some irreversible inhibitors targeting the critical K320 residue responsible for GLS1 biological activity. The (trifluoromethoxy)phenylacetic acid motif was replaced by α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids, and the resulting terminally substituted derivatives (e.

The development of organic electro-optic materials with ultrahigh electro-optic coefficients and high long-term alignment stability is the most challenging topic in this field. Next-generation crosslinkable nonlinear optical chromophore molecular glasses were developed to address this problem. A highly stable EO system including crosslinkable binary chromophores QLD1 and QLD2 or crosslinkable single chromophore QLD3 and multichromophore QLD4 with large hyperpolarizability was synthesized using tetrahydroquinoline as the donor.

RNA interference mediated by small interfering RNA (siRNA) provides a powerful tool for gene regulation, and has a broad potential as a promising therapeutic strategy. However, therapeutics based on siRNA have had limited clinical success due to their undesirable pharmacokinetic properties. This study presents pH-sensitive nanoparticles-based siRNA delivery systems (PNSDS), which are positive-charge-free nanocarriers, composed of siRNA chemically crosslinked with multi-armed poly(ethylene glycol) carriers via acid-labile acetal linkers.

Low molecular weight (1.8 kDa) branched polyethylenimine (PEI) has been used as non-viral vector for gene delivery because of its low toxicity, however, its further application in biomedical field has been restricted due to its low gene transfection efficiency. Herein, ZnO microflowers were prepared to increase the gene expression level mediated by PEI.
