Genetic proxies for counts of neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils were identified from the Blood Cell Consortium genome-wide association study meta-analysis (N = 562,243 European participants). A poor post-stroke functional outcome was defined as a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score > 2 at 3 months.

Parameter-efficient tunings (PETs) have demonstrated impressive performance and promising perspectives in training large models, while they are still confronted with a common problem: the trade-off between learning new content and protecting old knowledge, leading to zero-shot generalization collapse, and cross-modal hallucination. In this paper, we reformulate Adapter, LoRA, Prefix-tuning, and Prompt-tuning from the perspective of gradient projection, and firstly propose a unified framework called Parameter Efficient Gradient Projection (PEGP). We introduce orthogonal gradient projection into different PET paradigms and theoretically demonstrate that the orthogonal condition for the gradient can effectively resist forgetting even for large-scale models.

Bile acids are known to improve fat utilization, but their impact on growth performance and breast muscle development in Zhijiang ducks remains unclear. In this study, a total of 360 twenty-day-old Zhijiang ducks with similar body weights were divided into three groups: the control group (CN) received a basal diet; the high-fat group (FA) received the basal diet plus 1.

Herein, we developed a series of two-component OIMH amorphous glasses consisting of (TPG)MnBr (TPG, triphenylguanidium) and AMnBr (A, organic molten cation), named α(ATPG). The high glass-formation ability (GFA) in (TPG)MnBr provides a platform to modulate the crystallization of another molten AMnBr by homogeneous melting.

However, efficient species monitoring is often hindered by the complexities of ecological dynamics and the constraints of conventional techniques. This study presents an automated observation system by integrating dome camera with cascade neural networks (CNNs) to map the dynamics of waterbird communities across a semi-enclosed wetland in Dianchi Lake, southwestern China, a well-known important bird habitat.

Microplastics (MPs) and copper (Cu) are common co-pollutants in agricultural environments, yet their combined effects on plants remain poorly understood. This study investigated the individual and interactive impacts of Cu and polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-MPs on Perilla frutescens, a heavy metal hyperaccumulator and economically important crop, using hydroponic experiments. Low Cu concentrations (<2 mg L) promoted growth, whereas higher levels (>2 mg L) induced leaf chlorosis, curling, and root decay.

Organic-inorganic manganese-based halide (OIMH) scintillators have undergone a research upsurge due to their high X-ray attenuation ability, low preparation cost, outstanding photoluminescence performance, and flexible structures. However, the thermal quenching effects of OIMH materials limit their applications at high temperatures.

Although the switching of antiferromagnetic (AFM) order by current-induced spin-orbit torque (SOT) has already been realized, field-free SOT-induced bidirectional switching of AFM order in perpendicular geometry has been elusive. Here we experimentally demonstrate field-free perpendicular switching of the magnetic octupole m in chiral AFM MnSn by combining in-plane and out-of-plane SOTs generated by two-dimensional van der Vaals WTe.

Humans can quickly learn new concepts with limited experience, while not forgetting learned knowledge. Such ability in machine learning is referred to as few-shot class-incremental learning (FSCIL). Although some methods try to solve this problem by putting similar efforts to prevent forgetting and promote learning, we find existing techniques do not give enough importance to the new category as new training samples are rather rare.

Nitrogen (N) fertilisers increase crop yields; however, excessive application reduces nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and causes environmental pollution, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable agricultural practices. This study investigated the response of tiller-related traits to nitrogen availability during barley domestication and breeding, aiming to identify genetic resources with high NUE. A total of 305 barley accessions were analyzed under two nitrogen levels, focusing on six tiller-related traits and their relationship with nitrogen supply.

It affects plant stress resistance by regulating the chain length of fatty acid elongation products, the wax deposition in plant epidermis, and the formation of suberization layers. Through a comprehensive, genome-wide analysis, we identified members of the melon () family and characterized their sequence features, phylogenetic relationships, and expression profiles under three abiotic stress conditions, employing bioinformatics tools and methods.

Introduction: While adiposity is an established risk factor for incident ischemic stroke, its influence on functional recovery after stroke is uncertain. We leveraged Mendelian randomization (MR) to examine the causal effects of body mass index (BMI) and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) on post-stroke motor, cognitive, and global recovery.
Materials And Methods: Genetic proxies for BMI and WHR were obtained from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) meta-analysis of the GIANT consortium and the UK Biobank ( = 806,834).
Lead halide perovskite nanocrystal materials such as CsPbX (X = Cl, Br, and I) have triggered an intense research upsurge due to their excellent scintillation performance. Fingerprint-based indoor localization has been a hot research topic. However, the current fingerprint-based indoor localization approaches still rely on a single fingerprint database, where the average level of data at reference points is used as the fingerprint representation. In variable environmental conditions, the variations in signals caused by changes in the environmental states introduce significant deviations between the average level and the actual fingerprint characteristics.

Given the challenges associated with the low accuracy, complexity of the equipment, and poor interference resistance observed in current wireless multipath channel measurements, this study introduces a novel algorithm called KFSC-WRELAX. This algorithm integrates techniques involving pseudorandom noise (PN) sequences, Kalman filtering (KF), sliding correlation, and weighted Fourier transform combined with the RELAXation (WRELAX) algorithm.
