Substrate engineering offers a powerful approach to tailoring quasiparticle interactions in two-dimensional (2D) materials for valley-quantum devices. Here, a significantly enhanced valley polarization of 67% has been observed in a WS monolayer on a thin FeGaTe (FGT) layer under far-off resonant excitation at 10 K, which is much higher than that of 16% detected from WS monolayer. This enhancement is attributed to the magnetic proximity effect, which leads to a shorter exciton lifetime in the heterostructure without affecting the valley scattering time.

The interplay between topology and superconductivity generated great interest in condensed matter physics. Here, we unveil an unconventional two-dimensional superconducting state in the Dirac nodal line semimetal ZrAs which is exclusively confined to the top and bottom surfaces within the crystal's ab plane. As a remarkable consequence, we present the first clear evidence of a Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition occurring solely on a material's surface-specifically, ZrAs₂-unlike the inconsistent reports on PtBi₂, CaAgP, and CaAg₁₋ₓPdₓP.

Article Synopsis
  • Topology and interactions are key concepts in understanding quantum matter, leading to three main research directions: competition between interactions, interplay of interactions with topology, and resulting novel phases from combined topological orders.
  • This study reveals a unique 'hybrid' topological phase in arsenic using advanced techniques, demonstrating both strong and higher-order topology through specific surface features.
  • The findings suggest potential for exploring and utilizing different band topologies and their conduction properties in future quantum or nano-devices.

Plants are sessile and mostly exposed to various environmental stresses which hamper plant growth, development, and significantly decline its production. Drought stress is considered to be one of the most significant limiting factors for crop plants, notably in arid and semi-arid parts the world. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the potential impact of different concentrations (10, 100, and 200 µg/mL) of kinetin capped zinc oxide nanoparticles (Kn-ZnONPs) on (L.

Raman scattering (RS) in bulk hafnium disulfide (HfS2) is investigated as a function of temperature (5 K - 350 K) with polarization resolution and excitation of several laser energies. An unexpected temperature dependence of the energies of the main Raman-active (A1gand E) modes with the temperature-induced blueshift in the low-temperature limit is observed. The low-temperature quenching of a mode(134 cm) and the emergence of a new mode at approx.

Noctiluca scintillans (NS) adds an aesthetic appeal to many coastal areas because of their bioluminescence. An intense bloom of the red NS frequently occurs in the coastal aquaculture region of Pingtan Island in Southeastern China. However, when NS exceeds in abundance, it causes hypoxia which has devastating impacts on the aquaculture.
