Esophageal and gastric cancers are aggressive malignancies with poor prognoses due to late-stage diagnosis. Our study recruited 275 healthy participants, 201 gastric cancer patients, 74 esophageal patients and 103 patients with precancerous conditions. The participants were assigned into training and validation cohorts.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA low-temperature condition in a root zone is a major abiotic stress that threatens cucumber () growth and development, yet the molecular mechanism by which the leaf reacts to root zone chilling stress remains largely unknown. In this study, we applied three temperature treatments, including room temperature (20°C-22°C), suboptimal temperature (13°C-15°C), and low temperature (8°C-10°C), to investigate how root zone chilling affects hormone dynamics, metabolomics, and transcriptomics in the leaves of the cucumber variety "Jinyou 35", the main cultivar in northwest and southwest China. Through integrative physiological and biochemical analysis, auxin emerges as the most significant accumulated hormone, accounting for 88% in room temperature-treated leaves (RL), 99% in suboptimal temperature-treated leaves (SL), and 94% in low-temperature-treated leaves (LL).

Glioma is a common primary nervous system malignant tumor with poor overall cure rate and low survival rate, yet successful treatment still remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrated that amantadine (AMT) exhibits the powerful anti-glioma effect by promoting apoptosis and autophagy in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, amantadine induces a large amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation in glioma cells, and then triggers apoptosis by destroying mitochondria.

Oxidative stress (OS) plays a crucial role in the underlying pathologic progression of cerebral damage in stroke. Emerging experimental studies suggest that polyphenols have antioxidant potential and express protective effects after different types of strokes, but no breakthrough has been achieved in clinical studies.

Lower temperatures in the root zone directly affect the physiological function of the root system, which in turn affects the normal physiological activity of plants. However, the importance of the ground temperature in facilities has not attracted sufficient attention.

The mottled leaf is one of the agronomic traits of zucchini and can be applied as a marker trait in aggregation breeding. However, the genetic mechanism responsible for mottled leaf has yet to be elucidated. In the present study, we used two inbred lines (line '19': silver mottled leaf; line '113': normal leaf) as parents for the physiological and genetic analysis of mottled leaf.

Background: Gliomas are the most common and invasive malignant tumors that originate in the central nervous system. Currently, the primary treatment modality for gliomas is maximum surgical resection, supplemented by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, the long-term survival rate has not signifificantly increased.

Here, we are presenting a case of a 60-year-old male patient diagnosed with brucellosis who has a right basal ganglia hemorrhage ruptured into bilateral lateral ventricles.
Case Presentation: A 60-year-old male patient with symptoms of intracerebral hemorrhage who had no common risk factors for intracerebral hemorrhage, but having been diagnosed with brucellosis 2 months earlier and telling a shepherd history for 3 years.

Glioma is the most common intracranial malignant tumor, and the current main standard treatment option is a combination of tumor surgical resection, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Due to the terribly poor five-year survival rate of patients with gliomas and the high recurrence rate of gliomas, some new and efficient therapeutic strategies are expected. Recently, ferroptosis, as a new form of cell death, has played a significant role in the treatment of gliomas.

In order to explore the roles of ING3 in tumorigenesis and cancer progression of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), ING3 expression was assessed in 173 cases of HNSCC by immunohistochemistry. The expression of ING3 was also compared to clinicopathological variables, and the expression of several tumorigenic markers.
