The androgen receptor signaling inhibitor enzalutamide (Enz) is one the primary therapeutic drugs for advanced prostate cancer (PCa). Nevertheless, most of patients ultimately develop resistance to Enz. Through an integrated analysis of CRISPR genome-wide and kinome-wide screens, coupled with observations of elevated expression levels in Enz-resistant cell lines and PCa tumor tissues, our study identified RPS6KC1 as a novel essential gene implicated in Enz resistance.

Aim: To evaluate the predictive capacity of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in quantifying the likelihood of developing PVT in individuals afflicted with hepatitis B-induced cirrhosis.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at Beijing Ditan Hospital, affiliated with Capital Medical University, including 986 hospitalized patients.
The androgen receptor signaling inhibitor (ARSI) enzalutamide (Enz) has shown critical efficacy in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer (PCa). However, the development of drug resistance is a significant factor contributing to mortality in PCa patients. We aimed to explore the key mechanisms of Enz-resistance.

However, whether the NLR can be used as a predictor of symptomatic postoperative anastomotic leakage (AL) in elderly patients with colon cancer is unclear.
Aim: To assess the role of the NLR in predicting the occurrence of symptomatic AL after surgery in elderly patients with colon cancer.
Background/purpose: Patients with alcohol-associated cirrhosis and acute decompensation are considered critically ill and have a higher risk of short-term mortality. This study aimed to establish a nomogram to evaluate their 90-day survival and identify factors that affect disease progression.
Methods: We included patients from September 2008 to December 2016 (n = 387 in the derivation group) and from January 2017 to August 2020 (n = 157 in the validation group).

The aim was to construct and verify a nomogram-based assessment of cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with colorectal signet ring cell carcinoma after surgery. Patients were collected from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program between 2004 and 2015. Independent prognostic indicators were determined in the training cohort by Cox regression model.

This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting the overall survival of cervical adenocarcinoma (CAC) patients using a large database comprising patients with different ethnicities. We enrolled primary CAC cases with complete clinicopathological and survival data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program during 2004 to 2015. For training set samples, this work applied the Cox regression model to obtain factors independently associated with patient prognosis, which could be incorporated in constructing the nomogram.

Marriage has been reported as a beneficial factor associated with improved survival among cancer patients, but conflicting results have been observed in cervical adenocarcinoma (AC). Thus, this study is aimed to examine the relationship between the prognosis of cervical AC and marital status. Eligible patients were selected from 2004 to 2015 using the surveillance, epidemiology and end results (SEER) database.

Backgrounds: To compare the clinical effectiveness of different mesh fixation techniques in Lichtenstein tension-free repair using network meta-analysis.
Methods: Cochrane Library, Medline, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases were searched until 1 December 2020, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing outcomes between different mesh fixation techniques were included. The primary endpoints were chronic postoperative inguinal pain (CPIP) and hernia recurrence.

. Patients with cirrhosis are often hospitalized repeatedly for a variety of complications. This retrospective study aimed to assess the effects of minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) and Biejia-Ruangan (BR) on first hospital readmission in nonalcoholic cirrhosis patients without previous overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE) or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

In this study, the correlation of marital status with prognosis of colorectal SRCC was analyzed. Eligible subjects were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) dataset from 2004 to 2015, followed by comparison of cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) between married and unmarried group.

Objective: To study the effect of low-dose dopamine adjuvant therapy on inflammatory factors and prognosis in preterm infants with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
Methods: A total of 100 preterm infants with NEC from June 2017 to June 2019 were enrolled and divided into a dopamine treatment group and a conventional treatment group using a random number table, with 50 infants in each group. The infants in the conventional treatment group were given symptomatic treatment, and those in the dopamine treatment group were given low-dose dopamine adjuvant therapy in addition to the conventional treatment.
Background: Post-operative recurrence rates are high for hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to explore the factors associated with post-operative 1-year recurrence rate in patients with HBV-related HCC who had a single small primary tumor (≤3 cm in diameter).
Methods: This was a retrospective study of 203 (training cohort) and 64 (validation cohort) patients newly diagnosed with HBV-related HCC who had a single small primary tumor.
Background: Many patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Asian countries seek adjuvant therapy with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This study aims to explore the benefits of TCM therapy in the long-term survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma in China.
Patients And Methods: In total, 3483 patients with HCC admitted to the Beijing Ditan Hospital of Capital Medical University were enrolled in this study.
Purpose: To determine risk factors of postoperative urethral stricture (US) and vesical neck contracture (BNC) after transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) from perioperative parameters.
Materials And Methods: 373 patients underwent TURP in a Chinese center for lower urinary tract symptoms suggestive of benign prostatic obstruction (LUTS/BPO), with their perioperative and follow-up clinical data being collected. Univariate analyses were used to determine variables which had correlation with the incidence of US and BNC before logistic regression being applied to find out independent risk factors.

Deficiency of the organs is a vital pathophysiologic characteristic in the elderly. A core TCM aging theory is known as aging caused by spleen deficiency syndrome (SDS) that can be found in ancient and modern literature. The key objectives of this study were to establish a full-scale trial to evaluate the prevalence, symptom severity, frequency, and distribution of SDS in different age groups as related to health status (healthy, subhealthy, and chronic disease) to elucidate the role of spleen deficiency in the aging process and deterioration of health status.

Specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed for targeting human TF was transfected into SGC7901 cells. The expression levels of TF in the cells were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.

Objective: Tissue factor (TF) is expressed abnormally in certain types of tumor cells, closely related to invasion and metastasis. The aim of this study was to construct a human gastric cancer cell line SGC7901 stably-transfected with human TF, and observe effects on oxaliplatin-dependent inhibition of invasion and the apoptosis induction.
Methods: The target gene TF was obtained from human placenta by nested PCR and introduced into the human gastric cell line SGC7901 through transfection mediated by lipofectamine.
Background: Transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) has been widely used as a golden standard therapy of benign prostatic hyperplasia for over 40 years. However, not all patients achieved favorable outcome postoperatively. Since the level of bladder outlet obstruction and the dysfunction of detrusor (overactive and underactive) were both found to affect surgical efficacy, urodynamics was recommended as routine preoperative examination in selecting proper surgical candidates by International Continence Society in spite of its invasiveness and high cost.
