Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) hypersensitivity reactions are commonly reported but often overestimated due to reliance on clinical history alone. Accurate diagnosis and identification of safe alternative medications are essential for appropriate management. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the clinical manifestations of NSAID hypersensitivity, assess the diagnostic value and safety of aspirin oral provocation testing, and investigate the tolerability of alternative medications, including acetaminophen, meloxicam, and celecoxib.

Using data from the Korean Society of Bone and Marrow Transplantation registry, we retrospectively analyzed the role of autologous (auto) and allogeneic (allo) SCT in long-term MCL survival.
Methods: This study analyzed data from 188 patients (age ≥ 19 years at the time of transplantation) who underwent a transplant for MCL from 2011 to 2020.
Background: Donor thrombophilia poses risks to both donors and recipients. To address donor safety without unnecessarily decreasing the donor pool, we aimed to determine the incidence of protein C (PC) or protein S (PS) deficiency among living liver donor candidates and propose a decision-making algorithm for donation.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 1421 living donor candidates who underwent primary donor evaluation at a single center between January 2017 and February 2022.
Non-apoptotic cell death have emerged as promising strategies to overcome apoptotic resistance in cancer therapy. We suggest a hybrid gene delivery platform integrating adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated expression of receptor-interacting kinase 3(RIPK3) with manganese dioxide-polyethyleneimine (MnO-PEI) to induce necroptosis and immunogenic cell death (ICD), thereby remodeling the tumor microenvironment and enhancing antitumor immunity. This platform combines high transduction efficiency with the tumor-accumulation ability and immunostimulatory potential of non-viral carriers.

The anergic period is defined as a period of around 3-6 weeks following a systemic allergic reaction when skin test results are negative. Therefore, most guidelines recommend that physicians should conduct skin test 6 weeks after an immediate hypersensitivity reaction. However, in vitro tests, including serum-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) measurement, are generally deemed unaffected by the anergic period.

We conducted a phase II trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of azacitidine in combination with R-GDP (rituximab/gemcitabine/dexamethasone/cisplatin) in transplant-ineligible R/R DLBCL.
Methods: Fifteen patients were enrolled and treated with azacitidine and R-GDP regimen (NCT03719989).
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a major risk factor for cardiovascular and chronic diseases. This study evaluated how genetic predisposition and lifestyle factors contribute to MetS risk. We analysed data from 4,987 Koreans aged ≥ 40 years with at least one ASCVD risk factor (2014-2017).

Methods: Next-generation sequencing was used to detect CHIP in peripheral blood mononuclear cell samples.
The prognosis of central nervous system lymphoma (CNSL) remains poor, and attempts have been made to improve outcomes through autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) with thiotepa-based conditioning. We aimed to assess the outcomes of thiotepa/busulfan/cyclophosphamide (TBC) followed by ASCT in CNSL. An investigator-initiated, single-arm, phase II trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TBC/ASCT (NCT06625359).

This study examines the spectrum of TP53 mutations across various hematologic malignancies and evaluates their functional impact.
Materials And Methods: Using targeted sequencing panels, we analyzed TP53 mutations in the bone marrow aspiration samples of a retrospective cohort of 856 patients diagnosed with hematologic malignancies.
Background: Bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) are a new class of immunotherapeutic agents for patients with multiple myeloma (MM). Although this new class of drug is associated with good disease control, they are also associated with increased risk of infectious complications. Since endemic community-acquired and nosocomial infections vary across the globe, we conducted this study to report real-world data of infectious complications associated with BsAbs in Korean population.

The present study explored its real-world effectiveness and safety in a Korean cohort, filling a critical gap in current research. This multi-center retrospective study used data from the Korean Severe Asthma Registry, involving 67 patients treated with mepolizumab for uncontrolled severe asthma between September 2017 and July 2022.

While novel therapies improve response rates, they also hinder stem cell mobilization. This study evaluates the impacts of induction regimens on mobilization, collection, and ASCT outcomes.

Understanding the factors contributing to escalation into more severe reactions is crucial for improving patient safety. This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and risk factors associated with the progression from non-severe DHR to anaphylaxis.

This study aimed to identify recent changes of AIT treatment behaviors in real-world clinical practice using a questionnaire survey in Korea. The questionnaire on AIT prescriptions and practical experiences was distributed to all members of the Korean Academy of Asthma Allergy and Clinical Immunology in June 2022. The responses were analyzed and compared with the results from 2009 and 2017.

The APEX study was a multicenter, observational cohort study of IRd conducted at 16 sites across South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. Overall, 104 patients treated with IRd during 2016-2023 were enrolled; data were collected by retrospective chart review and 6-month prospective follow-up.

This study investigated the association between CHIP and myocardial tissue characteristics in patients with non-ischemic HF. We enrolled 95 patients diagnosed with non-ischemic HF with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of ≤40 % who underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) within 3 months of diagnosis.

While initially recognized in the 1960s, recent technological advances have revealed its complex nature and widespread prevalence, affecting up to 84% of individuals aged ≥ 70 years. The clinical significance of CH extends beyond its well-established role as a precursor to hematological malignancies, encompassing its association with cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney disease, and other non-malignant disorders.

Background: The frequency of cefaclor-induced immediate hypersensitivity reactions has increased in Korea. Skin prick tests (SPTs) and intradermal tests (IDTs) using cephalosporins are not as well validated as those using penicillin. Limited data are available regarding the diagnostic value of SPTs and IDTs for cefaclor-induced immediate hypersensitivity reactions.

Methods: To determine whether maintenance therapy confers a survival benefit in the real world, we compared treatment outcomes according to the use and type of maintenance therapy in patients who underwent ASCT following frontline therapy with the triplet regimen of bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone for newly diagnosed multiple myeloma in 15 nationwide centers.
Results: A total of 512 patients were analyzed (no-maintenance group, n = 359, and maintenance group, n = 153 patients).
Multiple myeloma (MM), a hematological malignancy, is characterized by malignant plasma cell proliferation in the bone marrow. Recent treatment advances have significantly improved patient outcomes associated with MM. In this study, we aimed to develop comprehensive, evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of MM.

Motivated by a recent discovery of the significance of DNMT3A-destabilizing mutations (DNMT3A) in AML, we here investigate the common characteristics of DNMT3A AML methylomes through computational analyses. We present that methylomes of DNMT3A AMLs are considerably different from those of DNMT3A AMLs in that they exhibit increased intratumor DNA methylation heterogeneity in bivalent chromatin domains.
