High-fat diet (HFD) and Streptococcus agalactiae are common pathogenic factors affecting tilapia health, yet their combined effects and underlying mechanisms are not well understood. To address this, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the potential response mechanisms in tilapia subjected to both factors. Tilapia were fed normal (NC) or high-fat diet (HFD) for 90 days, then challenged with S.

Bacterial communities play an important role in nutrient cycling in riverine wetland ecosystems, and the study of rhizosphere microbial community composition of different plants is of great scientific significance in revealing the relationship between microorganisms and plant interactions in riverine wetlands. In this study, samples were collected from four plant congeries dominated by Artemisia argyi (AH), Acorus calamus (CP), Miscanthus sacchariflorus (DC), and Paspalum distichum (QB), respectively. High-throughput sequencing technology was employed to investigate the rhizosphere microbial community structures associated with these distinct plant species.

Integrated rice-fish farming has been recognized as an important agricultural production pattern to enhance agro-ecosystem stability and food productivity. Using metagenomic sequencing, we compared the microbial-mediated soil CH, N, S, and P cycles in integrated rice-fish farming versus traditional rice monoculture, exploring their potential coupling mechanisms within microbes.

Here, we describe a previously uncharacterized external immune organ in the zebrafish ideally suited for studying immune cell dynamics in vivo, the axillary lymphoid organ (ALO). This small, translucent organ has an outer cortex teeming with immune cells, an inner medulla with a mesh-like network of fibroblastic reticular cells along which immune cells migrate, and a network of lymphatic vessels draining to a large adjacent lymph sac.

We employed metagenomic sequencing to investigate the impacts of integrated rice-fish farming on metal concentrations, metal resistance genes (MRGs), and microbial-mediated Fe, As, and Hg biotransformation processes within rice field. Our findings revealed that integrated rice-fish farming significantly reduced both the diversity and total abundance of MRGs.

Amoeboid cells such as leukocytes can enter and migrate in diverse tissues, even though tissues vary widely in their chemical and mechanical composition. Here, we imaged motile T cells as they colonized peripheral tissues during zebrafish development to determine whether cells tailor their migration strategy to their local tissue environment. We found that T cells in most sites migrated with F-actin-rich, leading-edge pseudopods, matching how they migrate in vitro.

To evaluate the environmental impact of different river crab polyculture practices, we set up two different river crab () polyculture practices: one where river crabs were cultured with mandarin fish (), silver carp (), and freshwater fish stone moroko (), and another where river crabs were cultured just with mandarin fish and silver carp. These two polyculture practices were referred to as PC and MC, respectively.

Although previous studies have charted various genetic and epigenetic dimensions of this process, the intricate gene regulatory programs shared by, or unique to, different regenerating cell types remain underinvestigated. Here, we mapped the regulatory landscape of fin regeneration by applying paired snRNA-seq and snATAC-seq on uninjured and regenerating fins.

To further explore the ecological impact of the snail 's, presence on the benthic environment, we employed high-throughput sequencing technology to investigate its effects on the bacterial, fungal, and protist communities in sediment and their intrinsic interactions. Our findings revealed that 's presence significantly enhanced the diversity and evenness of the fungal community while simultaneously decreasing the diversity and richness of the protist community, and it also altered the composition and relative abundance of the dominant phyla across the bacterial, fungal, and protist communities.

As global food security issues become increasingly severe, an important innovation in agricultural production patterns, namely integrated rice-fish farming, has been widely implemented around the world, especially in Asia. To assess the impact of integrated rice-crayfish () farming (IRCF) on agricultural ecosystems, we used Illumina high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing to analyze differences in diversity, composition, co-occurrence network, and assembly process of planktonic bacterial communities in paddy water between traditional rice farming (TRM) and IRCF. Environmental factors and planktonic bacterial communities were evaluated during the tillering, jointing, flowering, and grain-filling stages on August 24, September 5, September 24, and October 16, respectively.

Burn injuries undergo a complex healing process in which progressive spreading of epithelial damage can lead to secondary complications such as wound infection, which is a major driver of mortality among burn patients. We recently reported that burning larval zebrafish triggers dysregulated keratinocyte dynamics compared to mechanical injury. Here, we investigate keratinocyte behaviour following burn injury and the subsequent potential for microbial colonisation of burn wounds over time.
