Cytochrome P450 2J (CYP2J) enzymes are critical in synthesizing cardioprotective epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs), which help reduce oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis. Plumbagin, a natural antitumor agent, induces cardiac injury, although its mechanism remains uncharacterized. This study systematically evaluated the mechanism behind plumbagin-induced heart injury.

This review explores the multifaceted impact of physical exercise on FoxO signaling pathways, which play a central role in cellular homeostasis, stress response, metabolism, and longevity. Exercise influences FoxO proteins-particularly FoxO1, FoxO3, FoxO4, and FoxO6-through diverse mechanisms, including phosphorylation, acetylation, and ubiquitination, determining their localization, transcriptional activity, and stability. Regular exercise modulates FoxO signaling by activating pathways like PI3K/AKT, AMPK, SIRT1, and IGF-1, promoting cellular resilience against oxidative stress, apoptosis, and metabolic dysfunction.

The simultaneous use of statins and proton pump inhibitors is common in clinical practice, but the mechanisms behind their potential drug-drug interactions (DDIs) are still not fully understood. This study investigates the cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A)-mediated interactions between atorvastatin and omeprazole through in vitro microsomal assays and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies in wild-type (WT) and Cyp3a1/2 knockout (KO) rats. Incubation experiments with rat and human liver microsomes demonstrated that omeprazole inhibited atorvastatin metabolism in a concentration-dependent manner.

Alterations in gut microbiota are usually accompanied with changes in metabolites. The specific relationship between dynamic changes in gut microbiota and serum metabolites in influenza remains unclear.

Methods: A total of 560 patients with PVP were retrospectively analyzed, and they were stratified into a shallow (needle-tip at 2/3-3/4 depth, n = 291) and deep placement group (3/4-7/8 depth, n = 269). The clinical outcomes and anterior leakage rates were compared.
The mitochondrial quality control system is the principal regulatory framework governing mitochondrial quantity, morphology, distribution, and functional integrity. This surveillance and regulatory machinery is essential for preserving cellular homeostasis and determining cellular differentiation. Mitochondria play a central role in maintaining the dynamic equilibrium between osteogenic differentiation and osteoclastic differentiation.

Background: Preeclampsia is a life-threatening pregnancy disorder characterized by hypertension and multiorgan dysfunction, posing significant risks to both maternal and fetal health. Although low-dose aspirin is widely recommended for preventing preeclampsia, the underlying mechanisms of action are still poorly understood, which hinders the optimization of therapeutic strategies.
Methods: We developed an in vitro hypoxia-induced preeclampsia model using human trophoblast organoids to replicate key pathological features.

Allelochemicals are recognized as promising algaecides due to their environmental safety. Para-tert-butylcatechol (TBC) and L-lysine exhibit significant potential in suppressing harmful algal blooms (HABs); however, their combined effects and algae inhibition mechanisms remain unelucidated. Therefore, this study systematically investigated the growth inhibition of by TBC and L-lysine individually and in combination, while simultaneously examining their combined effects on algal growth, cell membrane integrity, photosynthetic activity, antioxidant responses, and microcystin production.

Objectives: Avian influenza such as H7N9 is currently a major global public health risk, and at present, there is a lack of relevant diagnostic and treatment markers.
Methods: We collected plasma samples from 104 confirmed H7N9 patients, 31 of whom died. Plasma metabolites were detected by UHPLC-HRMS, and a survival prediction model based on metabolites was constructed by machine-learning models.
The human body is inhabited by trillions of microorganisms that play a crucial role in health and diseases. Our understanding of the species and functional composition of the human gut microbiome is rapidly expanding, but it is still mainly based on taxonomic profiles or gene abundance measurements. As such, little is known about the species-function heterogeneity and dynamic activities in human microecosystem niches.

The advanced single-microbe RNA sequencing (smRNA-seq) technique addresses the pressing need to understand the complexity and diversity of microbial communities, as well as the distinct microbial states defined by different gene expression profiles. Current analyses of smRNA-seq data heavily rely on the integrity of reference genomes within the queried microbiota. However, establishing a comprehensive collection of microbial reference genomes or gene sets remains a significant challenge for most real-world microbial ecosystems.

Background: Communities are the main places where the public spend their daily activities, and suitable community environments can help improve their subjective well-being. However, there is still limited evidence on how fitness environments in communities affect the public's subjective well-being. In recent years, Chinese governments have been created the in communities to provide the public with convenient fitness facilities and venues.

Using high-abundance NaCO as a tracer combined with stable isotope technology, we quantitatively analyzed the photosynthetic carbon fixation rate, biological carbon sequestration amount, and particulate organic carbon generation rate of three macroalgae species-Ulva pertusa, Sargassum horneri, and Grateloupia turuturu-across a range of temperatures (5 °C, 10 °C, 15 °C, 20 °C, 25 °C, 30 °C). The results showed that Ulva pertusa exhibited the highest photosynthetic carbon fixation rate and carbon sequestration amount, peaking at 25 °C and 20 °C, respectively.
