A novel one-pot derivatization/magnetic solid-phase extraction with integrated pH adjustment (OPD/MSPE-pH) strategy was developed for the efficient and selective quantification of fatty aldehydes. This method seamlessly integrates pH regulation, derivatization, and magnetic separation in a single incubation step, where the sample solution, derivatization reagent, and magnetic composite (Fe₃O₄/MWCNTs-OH/CA) are processed together, significantly simplifying sample preparation. The magnetic composite, synthesized from Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles, hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-OH), and citric acid (CA), functions both as an acidic pH regulator and an efficient adsorbent for aldehyde-fluorenylmethyl carbazate (FMC) derivatives.

Ibuprofen is commonly used as an over-the-counter antipyretic and analgesic. However, children, as vulnerable population, are frequently excluded from pre-market clinical trials. Furthermore, there is a lack of post-marketing safety study.

Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) can be painful. Percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) aims at strengthening the vertebra and reducing pain, but efficacy can vary among patients. The purpose of this study was to establish a risk prediction model for pain relief following PKP in patients with OVCF.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates what affects medical workers' willingness to report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to enhance pharmacovigilance systems.
  • Using the COM-B model, researchers conducted 24 one-on-one interviews with various healthcare professionals to uncover key barriers and facilitators to reporting ADRs.
  • Major challenges included inconsistent judgment, poor awareness, unclear responsibilities, and lack of resources, while effective support and clear roles were identified as positive influences on reporting motivation.

Article Synopsis
  • This study looked at how willing healthcare workers are to use systems that report bad reactions to medications, called ADR reporting systems.
  • Researchers talked to doctors, nurses, and pharmacists to understand their experiences and opinions about these systems.
  • Despite finding the systems could be easy and useful, many healthcare workers had negative feelings about using them because of issues like inaccurate data and complicated processes.

Background: Hemorrhage represents the most common and serious side effect of antithrombotic agents. Many studies have compared the risk of bleeding between different antithrombotic agents, but analysis of time-to-onset for hemorrhage induced by these drugs is yet sparse.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study based on the adverse drug reaction reports on antithrombotic agents collected by the Henan Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Center.

Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of antidepressants is essential for monitoring patient medication to avoid drug toxicity, complications, or nonadherence. Chromatographic techniques with high sensitivity and reproducibility are the main detection method for antidepressants. Effective pretreatment of biological sample processes is necessary prior to instrumental analysis.

Operando monitoring of complex physical and chemical activities inside rechargeable lithium-ion batteries during thermal runaway is critical to understanding thermal runaway mechanisms and giving early warning of safety-related failure. However, most existing sensors cannot survive during such extremely hazardous thermal runaway processes (temperature up to 500 °C accompanied by fire and explosion). To address this, we develop a compact and multifunctional optical fiber sensor (12 mm in length and 125 µm in diameter) capable of insertion into commercial 18650 cells to continuously monitor internal temperature and pressure effects during cell thermal runaway.

A novel perylene diimide (PDI) based acceptor P-PDI was synthesized by attaching a phenyl bridge to two octyloxy side chains. With two large volume side chains, the planarity of P-PDI was significantly reduced, leading to weak nano-aggregation of the PDI groups between the different acceptor molecules. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) experiments also revealed that P-PDI was amorphous, and demonstrating the aggregation of P-PDI was successfully suppressed.

Bicarbonyl-substituted sulfur ylide is a useful, but inert reagent in organic synthesis. Usually, harsh reaction conditions are required for its transformation. For the first time, it was demonstrated that a new, visible-light photoredox catalytic annulation of sulfur ylides under extremely mild conditions, permits the synthesis of oxindole derivatives in high selectivities and efficiencies.

An unprecedented phototandem catalysis based on a single iridium photocatalyst has been successfully developed. This powerful strategy consists of two mechanistically distinct catalytic cycles, namely, photocatalytic energy transfer (ET) and single electron transfer (SET). The novel protocol allows a rapid and efficient construction of biologically and synthetically important 3-ester-3-hydroxy-2-oxindole derivatives from readily available diazoamides through a cyclization/aerobic oxidation sequence under very mild conditions.

A photocatalytic formal [3+2] cycloaddition of 2H-azirines with alkynes has been achieved under irradiation by visible light in the presence of organic dye photocatalysts. This transformation provides efficient access to highly functionalized pyrroles in good yields and has been applied to the synthesis of drug analogues. A primary trial of photocascade catalysis merging energy transfer and redox neutral reactions was shown to be successful.

Sequence catalysis merging photoredox catalysis (PC) and nucleophilic catalysis (NC) has been realized for the direct sp(3) C-H acroleination of N-aryl-tetrahydroisoquinoline (THIQ). The reaction was performed under very mild conditions and afforded products in 50-91% yields. A catalytic asymmetric variant was proved to be successful with moderate enantioselectivities (up to 83 : 17 er).

A highly efficient approach to indolo [1,2-a]quinoxaline derivatives through a Pd-catalyzed regioselective C-H olefination/cyclization sequence has been developed. This transformation has a wide range of substrates with various functional groups, and the corresponding heterocyclic products were obtained in good yields.

Objective: The purpose of our study was to review the initial high-resolution CT (HRCT) findings in pneumonia patients with presumed/laboratory-confirmed novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus (S-OIV) infection and detect pneumonia earlier.

Materials And Methods: High-resolution CT (HRCT) findings of 106 patients with presumed/laboratory-confirmed novel S-OIV (H1N1) infection were reviewed. The 106 patients were divided into two groups according to the serious condition of the diseases.

Introduction: McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS) is a rare disorder characterized by the classic triad of precocious puberty, polyostotic fibrous dysplasia and café-au-lait pigmented skin lesions. Cystic change is rare in fibrous dysplasia (FD), especially in McCune-Albright syndrome. There were no reports about cyst degeneration in MAS which resulted in abnormal visual acuity and visual fields.
