Flowering plants rely on double fertilization for their sexual reproduction. A pair of immotile sperm cells (SCs) are conveyed through a pollen tube into the female gametophyte, where they fertilize the egg cell and central cell to give rise to the embryo and endosperm in seeds, respectively. The SCs and the pollen vegetative nucleus (VN) move as a male germ unit (MGU) in pollen tubes.

Background: In hepatitis B virus (HBV)-infected patients, there's an increase in exhausted T and NK cells, as well as myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in liver, suggesting that boosting immune responses is beneficial. While Vonafexor inhibits HBV transcriptional activity, its effects on the immune microenvironment of HBV-positive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the mechanisms of immune clearance of these infected cells are not well understood.

Methods: In this study, tumor tissues from HBV-positive HCC patients were orthotopically transplanted into the livers of Hu-SRC mice to replicate the tumor microenvironment of the patients.

Conventional drug delivery methods for chronic disease often suffer from low potency and poor patient compliance, while current advanced devices face limitations because of bulkiness, frequent implantation needs, inflammation risk, and lack of precise control. To overcome these challenges, we developed the SUSTAIN-a smart, ultra-long-lasting, sequentially triggerable, and artfully implantable nozzle system. The SUSTAIN integrates an osmotic pressure-triggered module, an airflow-generated T-pipe (AGT), and a drug infusion pump (DIP) for controlled subcutaneous drug release.

Programmed necrosis involves three consecutive stages: initiation, propagation, and execution. The initiation of necrosis has been widely studied, but due to the diversity and pleiotropy of the initiating pathways, it is difficult to identify ideal targets for necrosis inhibition from upstream necrosis pathways. Genetic evidence suggests that caspase-independent chromatinolysis, an execution process in multiple forms of necrosis, could be targeted to inhibit necrosis, but its regulatory mechanisms remain unclear.
