Objective: Air pollution is a major environmental risk to human health, with increasing evidence linking it to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, findings remain inconsistent. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the relationship between air pollutants and the risk of NAFLD.

Methods: This meta-analysis was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42024519116). We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science for randomized controlled trials that compared adding Peg-IFN to long-term NAs with NAs alone for the treatment of CHB.
Background: In China, Niuxi-Mugua formula (NMF) has been widely used to prevent and treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, the mechanism of NMF for treating COVID-19 is not yet fully understood.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the potential mechanism of NMF for treating COVID- 19 by network pharmacology, computational biology, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) verification.
Background And Aims: Patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in the immune tolerant (IT) phase were previously thought to have no or slight inflammation or fibrosis in the liver. In fact, some CHB patients with normal ALT levels still experience liver fibrosis. This study aimed to develop and validate a non-invasive model for identifying pseudo-immune tolerance (pseudo-IT) of CHB by predicting significant liver fibrosis.

Here we aim to confirm the therapeutic effects and explore the pharmacological mechanisms of KXYA on hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We first collected and analyzed clinical data of 40 chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with precancerous liver lesions under KXYA treatment.

In this double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, multi-center trial, we evaluated whether entecavir (ETV) plus TCM formulas Tiao-Gan-Yi-Pi granule (TGYP) and Tiao-Gan-Jian-Pi-Jie-Du granule (TGJPJD) increase the rate of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) loss in Chinese patients.
Methods: 596 eligible participants were randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to two study groups in this 108-week trial: The experiment group was assigned ETV plus the TCM formula.
Background: Nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) are the first-line option against chronic hepatitis B (CHB). NAs produce potent suppression of viral replication with a small chance of HBsAg seroclearance and a high risk of virological relapse after discontinuation. The combined therapy of NAs plus traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is widely accepted and has been recognized as a prospective alternative approach in China.

In the study, a method based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with linear ion trap-Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap MS) was developed for the chemical constituent analysis of organic acids, flavonoids, iridoids and new-generated compounds in sulfur-fumigated LJF (SF-LJF). Based on the accurate mass measurement (< ± 5 ppm), chromatographic behavior and diagnostic product ions (DPIs), 113 constituents were unambiguously or tentatively characterized from SF-LJF extract, including 46 chlorogenic acids, 19 flavonoids, 29 iridoid glycosides and 19 newly-generated compounds (including 17 sulfur-containing derivatives).

Umbilical therapy with traditional Chinese medicines has been increasingly prescribed to treat cirrhotic ascites. However, high-quality evidence from clinical trials supporting such application of traditional Chinese medicines remains limited.

Nucleot(s)ide analogues (NUCs) anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) therapies are widely applied despite the relatively low rate of seroconversion and high risk of drug-resistant mutation.

Tubeimoside I (Tub) is a triterpenoid saponin isolated from Bolbostemma paniculatum[Maxim]Franquet. A sensitive and validated method was developed to determine Tub in rat plasma. This method combined the qualitative and quantitative advantages from liquid chromatography coupled with hybrid ion trap-time of flight mass spectrometer (HPLC-DAD-IT-TOF-MS) and a triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometer 5500 (Qtrap 5500), owing to the narrow molecular range of Qtrap 5500 relative to the molecular weight of Tub.

Background. In recent years, with the popularity of CHM, its hepatotoxicity has also been increasingly noticed. However, there are still veils on causative herbs and clinical characteristics.

The purposes of this study were to examine smoking patterns and sociodemographic correlates of smoking in a sample of rural Chinese male residents.
Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional, multi-stage sampling design.
