Impact of robotic-assisted versus video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery on efficacy and quality of life in patients with pulmonary opacities: a propensity score-matched analysis.

Objective: With the increasing detection of pulmonary opacities through low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), minimally invasive surgical techniques have gained prominence. While debates persist regarding the comparative efficacy and postoperative quality of life (QOL) between robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), this study aimed to compare the perioperative outcomes and postoperative QOL between RATS and VATS in patients with pulmonary opacities.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on patients who underwent pulmonary opacities resection at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Hospital, between January 2021 and November 2024.

Prolonged Exposure to Elevated Iodine Levels in Drinking Water Is Associated With the Occurrence of Autoimmune Thyroid Disorders in Adults: Findings From a Case-Control Study Conducted in Shandong Province, China.

Excessive iodine intake is associated with an increased risk of thyroid autoimmunity. However, the relationship between prolonged exposure to iodine levels exceeding 100 μg/L in drinking water and the occurrence of autoimmune thyroid disorders (AITDs) remains uncertain. The objective of the present study was to assess whether elevated iodine levels exceeding 100 μg/L in drinking water are a risk factor for AITD.

Analysis of pathogen distribution and serum procalcitonin level alterations in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by urinary tract infections.

Objective: To investigate the distribution and antibiotic resistance of pathogens in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) complicated by Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), and to explore the value of serum Procalcitonin (PCT) level alterations in the diagnosis and assessment of disease severity in these patients.

Methods: This retrospective analysis included 100 patients with T2DM complicated by UTIs admitted to the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University between January 2021 and August 2024, who constituted the Infection group. A control group, the T2DM group, consisted of 100 patients with T2DM without UTIs.

In this study, accompanied by urinary, blood and water iodine detection, we analyzed microRNA expression profiles through RNA sequencing in patients with benign thyroid nodules and healthy controls from iodine deficiency, adequate and high areas, respectively.

In this work, magnetic biochars (MBCs) were produced with the chemical coprecipitation method. The resulting materials were dried at 50 °C for 12 h and characterized via SEM-EDS, XRD, FT-IR, BET, TGA, and VSM techniques to evaluate their efficacy in removing Congo red (CR). The effects of solution pH, CR concentration, MBC1:1 mass, and a variety of ions on the adsorption performance were systematically examined.

Background: Our previous studies demonstrated that CCL17 and its receptor CCR4 play crucial roles in neuroinflammation and microglial activation following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). However, the specific mechanisms by which the CCL17/CCR4 axis regulates microglial polarization and hematoma clearance remain unclear.

Aims: This study investigates how the CCL17/CCR4 signaling pathway modulates microglial phenotype transition and enhances hematoma resolution after ICH, building upon our earlier findings showing CCR4's involvement in neuroinflammatory responses.

Processing of Counterfactual Conditional Sentences with Differential Propositional Truth-Value in Mandarin Chinese: Evidence from ERP.

Although many studies document the role of propositional truth-value in human psychological reading behavior, there is a relative paucity of research examining the role of differential propositional truth-value in processing Chinese counterfactual conditionals. This study is to investigate the role of differential propositional value in processing Chinese counterfactual conditionals by means of ERPs (event-related potentials). The study is based on comprehending two types of Chinese counterfactual conditionals, which is propositional truth value introduced by two different markers of conditional conjunctions in the protasis and apodosis, such as true counterfactual conditional markers jiaru (if) & jiu (so) in the sentence wo xiang yu jiaru you tui jiu keyi zai shuixia zhixi (I think if fish had legs so they could stifle under water), and false counterfactual conditional markers ruguo (if) & namo (then) in the sentence wo xiang gou ruguo you lin namo keyi zai shuixia huxi (I think if dogs had scales, then they could breathe under water).

How pupils of different ages perceive menus denoting metaphorical and metonymic expressions: Insights from eye-tracking.

The "embodied" position on language comprehension proposes that metaphor or metonymy understanding can be represented in a distributed network based on previous sensorimotor experience. The current study attempted to investigate how children understood metaphor and metonymy in the context of daily diet that provided rich sensory experience for children. We implemented an eye-tracking experiment where a 2 × 2 × 2 mixed design was employed.

In this study, the aim was to investigate the correlation between varying levels of urinary iodine concentration (UIC) in adults and the occurrence of thyroid diseases, with the additional objective of determining the optimal iodine status level for adults. A cross-sectional study was conducted on adults from six areas with different drinking water iodine concentrations (WIC) without eating iodized salt in Heze and Jining counties, Shandong Province, China. A total of 1336 adults were included in this study, and drinking water samples, blood samples, urine samples, thyroid ultrasound, and a questionnaire were collected.

Unveiling the effects of consumers' psychological distance on their reactance and related behavioral outcomes: Do lockdown restrictions matter?

This study examined consumers' psychological reactance, which is insufficiently explored in the literature. This research fills the gaps found in the literature reviewed and investigates how the psychological reactance of restaurant consumers developed because of social, temporal, and spatial distancing measures during COVID-19. This study also explored ways in which the restaurant industry can increase its compliance with COVID-19 restrictions in such a situation.

Metonymy Processing in Chinese: A Linguistic Context-Sensitive Eye-Tracking Preliminary Study.

Current cognitively oriented research on metaphor proposes that understanding metaphorical expressions is a process of building embodied simulations, which are constrained by past and present bodily experiences. However, it has also been shown that metaphor processing is also constrained by the linguistic context but, to our knowledge, there is no comparable work in the domain of metonymy. As an initial attempt to fill this gap, the present study uses eye-tracking experimentation to explore this aspect of Chinese metonymy processing.

COVID-19 and unpaid leave: Impacts of psychological contract breach on organizational distrust and turnover intention: Mediating role of emotional exhaustion.

This study examines the influence of COVID-19 on unpaid leave, the direct impacts of psychological contract breach on organizational distrust and turnover intention, and their indirect impact through emotional exhaustion. The study used partial least squares to analyze the data set of 238 questionnaires from hospitality establishments. Results indicate a significant direct positive impact of psychological contract breach on organizational distrust and favorable indirect effects through emotional exhaustion.
