Objective: Aiming at the problems of the long incubation period, insufficient early diagnosis, and lack of treatment methods of coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP), the objective of this study is to accurately predict the CWP staging based on machine learning (ML) methods and small-sample clinical data.

Methods: The study included a comparative analysis of clinical data from 202 healthy individuals and 81 CWP patients at general Hospital of Xuzhou Mining Group. Firstly, various oversampling techniques were employed to address the issue of data imbalance.

Oncolytic virotherapy, which uses engineered viruses to selectively target tumour cells, has emerged as a potential treatment in glioma. However, how oncolytic virus infection modulates lactylation enzymes in gliomas remains unclear. The RNA-seq data after oncolytic virus EV-A71 infection on glioma cells was analysed to screen and lysine acetyltransferase 8 (KAT8) was selected.

Background: Intracranial aneurysms are the main cause of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a severe stroke with devastating effects. However, there are no existing medications for intracranial aneurysms (IAs) and novel therapeutic targets are required.

Methods: We performed a summary data-based Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis to explore the causal association between circulating plasma proteins and the risk of IAs and SAH.

Objective: To predict the targets of Bufei Huoxue capsule (, BFHX) using network pharmacology analysis and to explore its effects and functional targets in a silicotic rat model.

Methods: The drug and disease targets were correlated through network pharmacology analysis to explore the targets and signaling pathways of BFHX affecting silicosis. NR8383 cells were cultured to verify the core genes and pathways.

Article Synopsis
  • - Pneumoconiosis, a lung disease common among coal miners, stems from long-term coal dust inhalation and can lead to severe symptoms like pulmonary fibrosis, increased pain, and higher mortality rates, with no effective treatments available.
  • - The disease's pathogenesis is complex, influenced by factors such as coal dust composition, particle size, shape, and concentration, but there is currently no standardized method for early prediction among miners.
  • - This review highlights recent research on pneumoconiosis in coal miners, discussing its pathogenesis and the impact of coal dust, as well as introducing diagnostic methods like image analysis and biomarker detection, and addressing challenges in early screening.

Reducing pollution caused by coal dust has always been a hot issue in the coal mining industry, and the water absorption of coal particles plays an important role in dust reduction. To study the relationship between different immersion time and the water absorption of coal particles, the substance content of coal particles after immersion was analyzed and water absorption characterization of coal particles was carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), water absorption calculations, and water absorption measurements. The results indicate that immersion can alter the material content of coal particles, leading to a decrease in the content of soluble mineral kaolinite, thereby affecting the wettability of coal particles.

High podoplanin (PDPN) expression correlates with poor prognosis in various cancers. However, the expression and clinical value of PDPN in glioma are unclear. In this study, PDPN expression was compared in 227 glioma tissues and 22 paired non-neoplastic tissues, and its association with prognostic factors was statistically analyzed.

In order to investigate the effect of frictional heat on the wear resistance characteristics of polymeric acetabular materials, the tribological tests and wear numerical analysis of three common polymer acetabular materials were carried out under different synovial fluid temperatures. The study results show that XLPE and VE-XLPE exhibit superior wear resistance compared to UHMWPE in high-temperature, heavy load environments. The coefficient of friction of three materials gradually decreases as the temperature of the synovial fluid increases.

Purpose: To explore the potential pathogenesis and clinical features of second primary glioblastoma (spGBM) following first primary renal cell carcinoma (fpRCC).

Methods: Patients with spGBM after fpRCC were enrolled from our institution and the SEER dataset. Sanger sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and immunehistochemistry were used to detect molecular biomarkers.

Objectives: Accurate prognosis assessment across the heterogeneous population of brain metastases is very important, which may facilitate clinical decision-making and appropriate stratification of future clinical trials. Previous studies have shown the L1 Cell Adhesion Molecule (L1CAM) is potentially involved in human malignancies of multiple different samples and unfavorable survival. However, no data of L1CAM are available for the brain metastases from lung adenocarcinoma, especially for the one with neurosurgical resection.

Background: Differentiating glioblastoma (GBM), brain metastases, and primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) in clinical practice is difficult. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of routine blood biomarkers in patients with GBM, brain metastases, and PCNSL and find a preoperative differential diagnostic tool for these tumors.

Methods: The perioperative medical records of 70 GBM, 41 PCNSL, and 81 brain metastases patients and their preoperative blood test results were compared and analyzed, and a diagnostic model to differentiate among them established.

Introduction: The prognosis of patients with glioma is dismal. It has been reported that Serpin peptidase inhibitor clade A member 3 (SERPINA3) is associated with the mobility and invasion of tumor cells. Our study was designed to explore the value of SERPINA3 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression in the biological process, prognosis, and immune significance in glioma.

In the present work, the relationship curve of the coefficient of friction (COF) with varying loads of different morphology WS lubricating additives in the friction process at various sliding speeds was studied. On this basis, wear marks and elements on the wear surfaces after friction were analyzed, and then the anti-wear and mechanism effects of WS of different forms in the lubrication process were discussed. Meanwhile, the Stribeck curve was used to study the lubrication state of the lubricating oil in the friction process.

In this work, the effects of loading condition and corrosion solution on the corrosion fatigue behavior of smooth steel wire were discussed. The results of polarization curves and weight loss curves showed that the corrosion of steel wire in acid solution was more severe than that in neutral and alkaline solutions. With the extension of immersion time in acid solution, the cathodic reaction of steel wire gradually changed from the reduction of hydrogen ion to the reduction of oxygen, but was always the reduction of hydrogen ion in neutral and alkaline solutions.

Porous HA ceramics were prepared by using NH4 HCO3/PVA as pore-formed material along with biological glass as intensifier, and these ceramics were immersed in Locke's Physiological Saline and Simulate Body Fluid (SBF). The changes of phase composition, grain size and crystallinity of porous HA ceramics before and after immersion were investigated by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The biological activity was evaluated.
