Coagulation parameters are critical for the diagnosis and management of bleeding disorders, yet existing reference intervals (RIs) often neglect demographic variations. This study established sex- and age-specific RIs for six coagulation parameters, including lupus anticoagulant (LA) ratio, protein C/S (PC/PS) activity, factor VIII/IX (FVIII/FIX) activity, and von Willebrand factor antigen (vWF Ag), in healthy Chinese adults from Shenzhen and Beijing. Coagulation parameter distributions were explored using kernel density plots and boxplots, with statistical comparisons across sex or age groups.

Currently, the most commonly used method to study the hydrodynamic performance of manta rays is computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. In this research, we investigated the effects of kinematic parameters-specifically wave number, amplitude, and frequency-on the hydrodynamic performance of manta rays during the swimming process by constructing a 2D CFD model. First, we verified the reasonableness of the 2D simulation.

This study explored the potential therapeutic targets and mechanisms of Danggui Shaoyao San(DSS) in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease(AD) through transcriptomics and metabolomics, combined with animal experiments. Fifty male C57BL/6J mice, aged seven weeks, were randomly divided into the following five groups: control, model, positive drug, low-dose DSS, and high-dose DSS groups. After the intervention, the Morris water maze was used to assess learning and memory abilities of mice, and Nissl staining and hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining were performed to observe pathological changes in the hippocampal tissue.

To investigate the effect of () infection on the cecal microbiota, resistant and susceptible families were screened out based on the coccidiosis resistance evaluation indexes after infection. Subsequently, a comparative analysis of cecal microorganisms among control, resistant, and susceptible groups as well as between different periods following the challenge was conducted using metagenomic sequencing technology. The results showed that the abundance of opportunistic pathogens, such as , , and in the susceptible group and and in the resistant group, was significantly higher on day 27 post-inoculation (PI) (the recovery period) than on day 5 PI (the infection period).

Meningeal lymphatic vessels form a relationship between the nervous system and periphery, which is relevant in both health and disease. Meningeal lymphatic vessels not only play a key role in the drainage of brain metabolites but also contribute to antigen delivery and immune cell activation. The advent of novel genomic technologies has enabled rapid progress in the characterization of myeloid and lymphoid cells and their interactions with meningeal lymphatic vessels within the central nervous system.

Background: Depression is defined by a persistent low mood and disruptions in sleep patterns, with the WHO forecasting that major depression will rank as the third most prevalent contributor to the global burden of disease by the year 2030. Sleep deprivation serves as a stressor that triggers inflammation within the central nervous system, a process known as neuroinflammation. This inflammatory response plays a crucial role in the development of depression by upregulating the expression of inflammatory mediators that contribute to symptoms such as anxiety, hopelessness, and loss of pleasure.

As shallow coal reserves continue to deplete rapidly, deep mining has become an unavoidable course of action. In the process of deep coal mining, affected by blasting, mining, and excavation, the coal-rock interface often encounters the action of compression-shear composite load. The interface crack directly affects the stability of the coal-rock structure.

Introduction: Apicomplexan AP2 family of proteins (ApiAP2) are transcription factors (TFs) that regulate parasite growth and development, but little is known about the ApiAP2 TFs in spp. sequence is predicted to encode a ApiAP2 protein (EnApiAP2).

Methods: The cDNAs encoding full-length and truncated EnApiAP2 protein were cloned and sequenced, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • The oocyst wall of Eimeria parasites is crucial for their survival and transmission, made from proteins found in wall-forming bodies (WFBs).
  • Through proteomic analysis, researchers identified over 2,900 proteins in Eimeria necatrix and highlighted 1102 as differentially expressed, suggesting key roles in oocyst wall formation.
  • Three specific proteins—EnPDI, EnTrx, and EnPGK—were confirmed to be present in the oocyst wall's outer layer, indicating their participation in structural formation and opening potential avenues for disrupting parasite transmission.

Article Synopsis
  • Eimeria necatrix is a significant pathogen threatening the poultry industry, characterized by its surface antigens linked to a specific GPI structure, though little is known about these proteins in this parasite.
  • Researchers amplified and cloned the sag gene from E. necatrix to produce a recombinant protein (rEnSAG), revealing insights into its structure, which is critical for understanding its role in infection.
  • The study indicated that rEnSAG can inhibit the invasion of host cells by sporozoites and may confer immune protection in chickens, suggesting its potential as a vaccine candidate against E. necatrix infections.*

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a global public health priority characterized by high mortality rates in adults and an increasing prevalence in aging populations worldwide. Despite significant advancements in comprehending the pathogenesis of AD since its initial report in 1907, there remains a lack of effective curative or preventive measures for the disease. In recent years, natural compounds sourced from diverse origins have garnered considerable attention as potential therapeutic agents for AD, owing to their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective properties.

Article Synopsis
  • Eimeria species are harmful parasites in poultry, and this study focuses on the EnOXIO1 gene from E. necatrix, which is linked to protein functions in these pests.
  • Researchers extracted RNA from the parasite's gametocytes, amplified the EnOXIO1 gene, and successfully expressed the recombinant protein in E. coli, confirming its significant antigenic properties.
  • The study demonstrated that vaccination with the rEnOXIO1 protein boosted chicken immunity, improved weight gain, decreased parasite output, and lessened tissue damage during E. necatrix infection.

Despite the massive investment in Alzheimer's disease (AD), there are still no disease-modifying treatments (DMTs) for AD. One major reason is attributed to the limitation of clinical "one-size-fits-all" approach, since the same AD treatment solely based on clinical diagnosis was unlikely to achieve good clinical efficacy. In recent years, computational approaches based on multiomics data have provided an unprecedented opportunity for drug discovery since they can substantially lower the costs and boost the efficiency.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a critical neurodegenerative disease that manifests as progressive intellectual decline and is pathologically characterized by a progressive loss of neurons in the brain. Despite extensive research on this topic, the pathogenesis of AD is not fully understood, while the beta-amyloid (A) hypothesis remains the dominant one and only a few symptomatic drugs are approved for the treatment of AD. Ginseng has been widely reported as an effective herbal medicine for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia.

Liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is a complicated disease with poor survival and lack of viable treatment options. The roles of ferroptosis and immunotherapy in LIHC are increasingly prominent, but the interplay of ferroptosis with the tumor microenvironment (TME) in LIHC is currently under-investigated. In this study, we analyzed normal liver tissues and tumor tissues from the TCGA and GTEx databases to obtain differentially expressed ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs).

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common progressive neurodegenerative diseases, accompanied by global alterations in metabolic profiles. In the past 10 years, over hundreds of metabolomics studies have been conducted to unravel metabolic changes in AD, which provides insight into the identification of potential biomarkers for diagnosis, treatment, and prognostic assessment. However, since different species may lead to systemic abnormalities in metabolomic profiles, it is urgently needed to perform a comparative metabolomics analysis between AD animal models and human patients.
