Hypertension is a major risk factor for stroke, and appropriate management of blood pressure (BP) is crucial for both prevention and treatment. Since the 2009 publication of the Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) by the Korean Stroke Society (KSS), significant advances have been made in BP management for stroke patients, particularly in cases involving intracerebral hemorrhage and in the context of endovascular reperfusion therapy for ischemic stroke. In light of recent evidence, the CPG Committee of the KSS initiated an update of the guidelines for BP management in acute stroke.

Background: Data on long-term prognostic factors in patients with cancer-related stroke are limited. The purpose of this study was to evaluate long-term outcomes and investigate prognostic factors of cancer-related stroke using a linked data set.
Methods: Between January 2008 and December 2014, patients with cancer-related stroke (n=690) were included in a linked data set comprising the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service claims database and the Clinical Research Center for Stroke registry data.
Lobeglitazone, an oral antidiabetic medication, acts as a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonist and demonstrates neuroprotective effects. This study investigated beneficial effects and mechanisms of lobeglitazone treatment in an experimental intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) rat model. ICH was induced in the left striatum of Sprague-Dawley rats by administration of 0.

Although hyperacute management significantly affects outcomes, prognostic factors for patients receiving delayed care remain unknown. This study aimed to evaluate predictors and develop a method for estimating long-term mortality in patients with delayed hospital arrival 24 h after stroke symptom onset.

Additionally, we developed a prognostic method for patients with SAE. A total of 40 consecutive patients with SAE were prospectively included.

Aims: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between clot composition and stroke mechanisms in patients undergoing endovascular therapy (EVT), using proteomic analysis.
Methods: This study included 35 patients with ischemic stroke (cardioembolism [CE], n = 17; large artery atherosclerosis [LAA], n = 6; cancer-related [CR], n = 4; and undetermined (UD) cause, n = 8) who underwent EVT. Retrieved clots were proteomically analyzed to identify differentially expressed proteins associated with the three stroke mechanisms and to develop the machine learning model.
Background: A multimodal approach may prove effective for predicting clinical outcomes following cardiac arrest (CA). We aimed to develop a practical predictive model that incorporates clinical factors related to CA and multiple prognostic tests using machine learning methods.
Methods: The neurological outcomes after CA (NOCA) method for predicting poor outcomes were developed using data from 390 patients with CA between May 2018 and June 2023.
Background: Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare complication of lung transplantation with poorly understood risk factors and clinical characteristics. This study aimed to examine the occurrence, risk factors, and clinical data of patients who developed PRES following lung transplantation.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 147 patients who underwent lung transplantation between February 2013 and December 2023.
Background: Post-stroke dementia (PSD) is a common and disabling sequela of stroke. However, the long-term incidence of PSD after an ischemic stroke and factors which predict its occurrence are incompletely understood. Linkage of large health datasets is being increasing used to study long-term outcomes after disease.

Although isolated unilateral mydriasis without accompanying neurological abnormalities is rare, it has occasionally been associated with nebulizer use. We aimed to quantitatively assess pupillary changes using a pupillometer in cases of isolated mydriasis, which has not been described in previous studies.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), the transfer of fecal solution from a healthy donor to a patient, has shown promise in restoring homeostasis and cognitive enhancement.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the effects of FMT on specific cognitive performance measures in Alzheimer's dementia (AD) patients and investigate the relationship between cognition and the gut microbiota by evaluating changes in gene expression following FMT.
Introduction: Detection of atrial fibrillation (AF) is crucial for preventing recurrence in patients with ischemic stroke. We aimed to examine whether the left atrial volume index (LAVI) and global longitudinal peak strain (GLPS) are associated with AF in patients with ischemic stroke.
Methods: We prospectively analyzed 678 consecutive patients with ischemic stroke.
Background: High quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is one of the key elements of the survival chain in cardiac arrest. Audiovisual feedback of chest compressions have been suggested to be beneficial by increasing the quality of CPR in the simulated cardiac arrests.
Methods: A prospective before and after study was performed to investigate the effect of a real-time audiovisual feedback system on CPR quality during in-hospital cardiac arrest in intensive care units from November 2018 to February 2022.

Background: Optimal antiplatelet strategy for patients with ischemic stroke who were already on single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) remains to be elucidated. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different antiplatelet regimens on vascular and safety outcomes at 1 year after non-cardioembolic stroke in patients previously on SAPT.
Methods: We identified 9,284 patients with acute non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke that occurred on SAPT using linked data.
Background: Single and motor or cognitive dual-gait analysis is often used in clinical settings to evaluate older adults affected by neurological and movement disorders or with a stroke history. Gait features are frequently investigated using Machine Learning (ML) with significant results that can help clinicians in diagnosis and rehabilitation. The present study aims to classify patients with stroke, neurological and movement disorders using ML to analyze gait characteristics and to understand the importance of the single and dual-task features among Korean older adults.
